Before he finished speaking, he launched himself like an arrow from a bow, pouncing directly at Lucifer! "You want to die?" Lucifer's purple eyes narrowed slightly. Luca huffs a derisive laugh. “No, we’re done with witnesses. What I have is far more substantial. And I think you’ll be very interested to see it, Elder Alfred.” There is a hint of mockery and an unmistakable tone of veiled threat in his tone. For the briefest moment, something close to fear flashes in Alfred’s eyes as Luca strides toward the council. It makes me wonder what exactly Luca has found. Whatever it is, Alfred Wix looks genuinely concerned. “Alright…” Beta Renston folds his hands together, his full attention on Luca. “And what exactly do you have, Luca?”

Dante’s sharp gaze met Luca’s. “You look like a man who’s about to give me bad news.” Luca chuckled, shaking his head. “Depends on how you see it.” Dante set his drink down. “Talk.” Luca hesitated for a moment before running a hand through his hair. “I wanted to tell you this before I left, before I disappeared into the night like some ghost. But that didn’t feel right.” He exhaled. “Dante, I’m leaving.”

Chapter 3 Lucian's POV I let out a deep sigh after going through the contents of the letter in my hand. “How was the meeting with the other Alpha and the Council Elders?” I asked my Beta and best friend Freya, who looked at me and gave out a tired sigh of her own.

She was just caught in the middle. “Last I checked, the Luna is the wife of the Alpha, and a beta is someone that serves the Alpha. So if I am the Alpha, then that should mean that she is my wife and you serve me.” His eyes held mine, and his smirk grew wider. The urge to smack it off his face overwhelmed me, but I knew it would only upset Selena, so I held myself back. “That’s enough, Lucian. I was on my way there, and I would have joined you even if you didn’t come up here.” Selena chipped in and tried to get Lucian to turn around and walk away, but he just wouldn’t.

I manage. He and Lindsey laugh. “I’ve decided to look elsewhere for a luna. Lindsey says she’s happy with you. Who am I to stand in the way?” He smiles though I see some pain behind his mask. I’m sure this decision didn’t come easy. “I’d like us all to be allies and friends.” He holds out the hand that isn’t on my back for me to shake. I take it, and we seal our unexpected pact. “Now I’m starving. What does an alpha have to do to get early service?” Jagger jokes. I must say I might end up liking this guy after all.

“Thanks for the compliment. Now either kill me or shut up, I’m not interested in the villain monologue.” Jonathan laughed and stopped directly in front of him. “Still got that fire. I like that. Most alphas start begging by this point.” “I’m not most alphas,” Luca growled, and he tried to stand but his legs gave out halfway up and he cursed as he crashed back down to his knees. “No, you’re not,” Jonathan agreed, tilting his head like he was examining something interesting. “You’re actually much more pathetic because you’ve never actually been in a real fight before, have you? You’re still a child.”

“You will not be teaching Samantha. I will.” Xavier looked at him like he’d just walked out of a comedy play. “You’re jealous, aren’t you? Wow,” he laughed. “I had no idea the Alpha would be threatened by me.” Luca’s face twisted in annoyance. “I am not threatened!” “Yes, you are!” Xavier laughed harder and, just to spite Luca, grabbed me by the waist and pulled me closer to him. I like you, Xavier. I think you’re funny, amazing, and good looking, but now is not the time.

Luca greeted, his voice low and ominous. Luca turned back to Xander and Xavier, "Xander," he said, his tone low and menacing, "you really need to think twice before messing with someone like Selene. Lay your hands on her again, and I won't just hold back. You'll find out what it means to face the wrath of an angry wolf." Xander and Xavier exchanged uneasy glances. After delivering his stern warning, Luca turned back to me, his expression slightly softening. "We've got a meeting, Alpha Orion. Alpha Dominic called, and he wants us there."

He took his eyes from Hunter, over to Xavier who also had his eyes on him, keeping that oh so cold look. Alex was ready to be swallowed by the earth then and there. He’d just trespassed and if these guys didn’t kill him then embarrassment would. “I was kidding,” Luca whispered right by Alex’s ear, getting him to twist his neck trying to look back at him. Luca kept his smug smile all whilst Alex felt like an idiot. Why?
