I held her while she took her last breath. I suffered through all those days of taunts from Jade, the lies, hearing how she’d taken it all from me. I watched my daughter die. Did I dream it? Was it the drugs Jade forced into me? Was it madness? The crib is exactly where it should be. My eyes lock onto her. I suck in a deep breath and just hold it. Lucy is alive. Not still, not pale, not wired to machines. She is up on her feet, hair in a wild halo of curls, slapping the bars with her palms and laughing at nothing.

Catherine asked alertly. “If I wanted to kill her, I would have done that a long time ago or let Iris do that” Plague replied coldly. Lucy slowly woke up, she had recalled being knocked out by Plague yesterday morning after feeding her the same concoction she now tastes in her mouth. “Why are you doing this, shouldn't you be by Iris' side?” Lucy asked slowly, her voice barely audible. Plague gave her some water, at first Lucy was hesitant but knowing that the figure before her doesn't plan to harm her, at least for now, she slowly opened her mouth and gulped down the water greedily that she nearly choked.

All she could do was watch and hope that Lucy would pull through. Ethan knew nothing was happening at the moment and all of a sudden, he turned her head and with his fingers, he pressed against the side of her neck and at that moment, Lucy went calm all of a sudden like one who was dead.

“She won’t wake up.” Then he gave a short, humorless laugh. “I don’t believe you.” That was when Maeve arrived. She crossed the corridor and slapped him hard across the face. The sound cracked through the silence. Lucien turned back slowly, a red mark rising on his cheek. “You dare?” Maeve laughed through tears. “Dare? Lucien, I could kill you.” “You put her on that table with your own hands. Elara is dead. She is truly dead. Are you satisfied now?”

My heart skipped a painful beat, and I paused, my throat suddenly going dry. Lucy noticed my hesitation and stepped even closer, her hot breath fanning across my face as she lowered her head. "I said exactly what I said," she repeated, her eyes gleaming with a strange, unstable light. "You are going to be dead very soon. So, I am just standing here calmly letting you run your pathetic little mouth right now because I know, with absolute certainty, that your time is running out. Even if Michael doesn't end up choosing me in the end, at least I will still be standing here alive while you are rotting in the ground."

He calmly slapped the test reports and surveillance screenshots right across her face. Papers were scattered all over the floor. As Lucy caught sight of what was written on them, the color drained from her face completely. "W-What is this? Chad, you investigated me?" "You didn't have an episode, and your blood clotting is perfectly normal," Chad said, looking down at her with pure disgust. "You took a knife to the obstetrics department. That's premeditated murder." Panic seized Lucy. She scrambled out of bed and threw herself onto the floor, locking her arms around Chad's legs.

She offered Aislen a bloodied knitting needle. “It hurts like nothing else, but give it a good shove, and you won’t be pregnant anymore.” Aislen danced back from the puddle of blood that formed around Lucy’s feet, dripping down her legs and staining her socks. “They don’t care what happens to us,” Lucy told her, her skin turning black and her body crumbling into dust before Aislen’s eyes, until nothing remained but a sticky pool of blood reflecting her own face back at her.

“I came too late, didn’t I, Lucy? “It’s alright. I’ll take you home now.” Gritting my teeth against the pain in my abdomen, I hoisted Lucy onto my back. “Wham!” The pain was so intense that my leg gave out. Lucy slipped from my grasp and hit the ground hard. “I’m sorry, Lucy!” I cried. Sinking to my heels, I tried to get her onto my back again. As I leaned close to Lucy, maggots crawled out of her pale, lifeless ears. The gruesome fact that Lucy was dead stared me right in the face.

When a car struck me and sent me flying, blood sprayed everywhere. It resulted in ruptured organs, so I begged my wife, Lucy Hathaway, to take me to the hospital. But she told me to endure it because her younger uncle, Alan Cooper, had surgery that day. To stop me from applying to a foreign institution, Lucy went so far as to lock me in a cold storage room kept at negative twenty degrees Celsius. “The chance to travel abroad has to go to Alan.
