Lucy, one of the girls who lived in the home and one of my only friends asked and I offered her a small smile. I wondered how she always managed to stay cheery all the time in this dreadful place. She was an orphan like myself but she was yet to perform the coming of age ritual as she wasn’t nineteen yet. I wondered if she would still have such a cheery attitude if she ended up being a white omega wolf like myself. “Yeah. Thank you for asking.” My voice betrayed the words that came out of my throat and the look of pity that flashed in Lucy’s eyes made my eyes full with tears again.

A coffee cup was in her hands, she sipping from it as she observed me. “Something happened that’s all” I said, trying to keep my voice level. “Did Luca do something?” Lacy asked, putting the cup down. The guard hesitated for a moment before finally nodding and reaching for the gate controls. The car drew closer, and I sensed the increased thumps in my heart. “Everyone, please calm down. These men are not here to attack. They are here to help.” Whispers spread through the crowd, their curiosity piqued. I watched as the seer approached the group of men, her eyes searching for one in particular. She then gestured toward me. “This is Mara. She’s the Lycan you’re looking for.” One of the men, taller than the others and with a commanding presence, stepped forward. His gaze was intense as he focused on me. The seer turned to me and spoke softly, “Mara, show him the birthmark on your shoulder.”
