When Emma's parents first told her about the arranged marriage, she had hoped the Alpha would like her. It wasn't until their wedding night that the Omega knew the truth. "Don't get too comfortable," Lucus said coldly. "Once everyone leaves the hall, you are going to sleep in guest room." "W-What? Bu-" "What?" The Alpha says, turning to look at her, Emma flinched at the look in Lucus eyes."You thought we'd have some bullshit magical night? Well news flash Omega, I will NEVER want you. I already had someone." "What about me, then?" The Omega asks, with teary eyes. "I don't care. I am going to see my girlfriend." With that the Alpha leave. The night was the beginning of the end. When Lucus met Moni, they were in middle school. Lucus stepped in to save Moni from an Alpha group of older boys who were picking on her.
Lucus instantly realized the smaller girl was Omega. Lucus, who presents as an Alpha, finds himself protective of the small Omega. They were strangers then, but after a few weeks, they became the best of friends.
It was Lucus who fell first. Actually, he fell the moment he swooped in to save the Omega and only continued to fall every moment after.
It wasn't until his freshman year of high school that Lucus had the courage to confess.
It was scary watching his best friend's eyes widen at his words. Lucus trembled as he admitted his feelings, scared of rejection but even more so of losing his best friend. But when Moni kissed him only a moment later, it felt like Lucus had saved a nation in his past life.
Moni had accepted his feelings and even confessed her own. That was the beginning of their relationship; that was where their love story began.
They continued to date all through high school and well into their college years. It felt like everything was going great; Lucus was always on cloud 9. That was until he graduated.
His parents are not happy about it; according to them, Moni just wants him for his money. Actually, his and Moni's family is not a good term because his father literally made Moni's father lose all his money in the market. But Lucus knows his lover; she always cries on his shoulder whenever she remembers her mother, who passed away before she met Lucus. Her father is always busy with his work and never takes care of her or loves her like a child. One day, Lucus promised her, "No matter what, I will never leave you, love. I will always stand beside you."
He knows Moni has no one but him, so he will do anything to protect her and take care of her.
When he joins his father's company, things become difficult for him, but Lucus always runs whenever his lover needs him.
His parents are not happy with his behavior, nor is his big brother.
"Where were you today? Alex said you weren't there, and you missed two meetings. Can you explain yourself?" His father asks him as he enters his office.
"I was with Moni. She wasn't feeling good, so I was with her." He answers to his father, who is sitting on his chair and waiting for him.
Damon Madden, his Alpha father, who is in his early forties, is one of the richest Alphas in the country. He is a very serious person when it comes to business and his family. His father built the whole empire himself.
"Seriously son? You are still chasing that Omega like a lost puppy? Don't you have something called dignity?" The older Alpha asks, and he stands up.
"That girl has a name, and it's Moni. We have been together for years now; why are you suddenly mad that I'm with her?"
"Don't you talk back to me, Lucus. You are neglecting your duties because of that, Omega. Those meetings were very important to me. Just because I'm retired doesn't mean I don't have any idea what you're doing with the company. I didn't just give the company to your hands for nothing. You should be more responsible."
Lucus knows his father is right, but he can't help it when Moni needs him.
"I'm sorry, dad. I will be more responsible." The younger Alpha bows his head and apologizes.
"Good. We will be having a family dinner in the evening. Make sure you have nothing planned for the evening. You just can't keep doing this shit, Lucus." With that, his father left, and Lucus groaned in frustration.
"Look like Dad kicked our little Lucus ass." His big brother teases him as he enters the Lucus office.
"I thought you covered for me?" Lucus glared at his big brother.
"Sorry, baby, bro, I tried. I didn't expect dad to come to the office today." Alex said he is a big-build Alpha like him.
"Well, complete your work as fast as you can; we have a family dinner in the evening. Mom, Dad wants you there on time." His brother informs him.
Lucus nodded his head, and Alex left his office. Lucus hurriedly informs Moni about it. He then starts doing his work; he just hopes everything went well and he can go back to sleep with his pretty Omega without any problem.
Evening: -
When Lucus arrived at the large mansion, his parents and his older brother were already there. Lucus eyes scanned the room, and nobody seemed to notice that he was there.
"Lucus! Why are you standing there? Come and sit." His brother's cheery voice echoed through the spacious room, making everyone look at him.
"You're 20 minutes late," his father said as Lucus took the seat next to his mother, Jenny, who is the only Omega in their family.
"I'm sorry," Lucus apologized half-heartedly as he took the plate from the male beta maid. He thanked him quietly when the maid was done serving him.
"Um, so why are we suddenly having a family dinner?" Alex was the first to break the uncomfortable silence after a few minutes. Lucus lifted his head from the plate and looked at his mother for a brief second before turning his gaze to his father. His father stopped eating and put his cutlery on the plate. He took a sip of water from the tall glass.
"There's something important to talk about with you two. Especially with Lucus." Lucus raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow and pointed one of his fingers at himself.
"With me? About what?" He asked uninterestingly. He prayed it wasn't something about his relationship with Moni.
"I had a private conversation with David James at the office today." The older Alpha started.
"With Mr. James? Wasn't he like our business rival before?" Lucus asked, making the older Alpha chuckle.
"Well, not anymore." Both Lucus and Alex looked confused now.
"What do you mean? Are you going to merge the companies together?" Lucus questioned it, not liking the idea already. He watched as his father nodded at his mother. Lucus eyes turned to his mother, who also had a soft smile on her face. She shifted in her seat and took one of Lucus hands into hers.
"Do you remember Emma James?" The moment Lucus heard that name, his heart started to pound. He left like something was going to burst out of his chest. The uncomfortable ringing in his ears grew louder and louder, and his hands started to shake. "Emma? Who?"
Lucus knew that name. Even though it was getting harder for him to pretend like he had no idea about the Omega. The one who made him insecure about everything
So how could he ever forget that name?
"Lucus?" His mother's voice brought him to his senses.
"Yeah, Emma, I remember her." He gave his attention to his mother, who was looking at him with worried eyes. Her worried face changed to a soft one with a fond smile on her lips. She brought one of her hands up and fixed a strand of her son's hair.
"You know, Emma has grown into a very polite and well-educated omega." What did this information have to do with him? No one seemed to care about Emma after she left the country for her studies.
Yes, he remembered how much his mother adored Emma when they were young. And his father adored her as much as his mother did, which made him sick and tired of Emma. In their eyes, Emma was the perfect child anyone could ever hope for. She was smart, elegant, and respectful. In a world where omegas were treated with respect and dignity by the other subgenres, Emma was like a rare gem.
When his mother and her friends gathered for their weekend get-together, their kids always looked for Emma to play with, and it bothered his younger self.
But no, it was always Emma. Emma that, Emma this, and the hatred he had for the omega only grew stronger. It was until he got to know that Emma was leaving the country for her studies. It made him so happy that he thought no one would mention her name again, and no one did. So, he tried to forget about Emma's existence, but it wasn't easy for him because he knew a small part of him had always liked the pretty omega. He kept it to himself, buried deep inside his heart.
He blinked so hard that he felt like the lights were too bright for his eyes.
"So?" He managed to let out a sigh, and his mother looked at his father for some help.
"What your mother is trying to say is that it's time for you to settle down with an omega. You're already 25, son. Don't you want to have a nice family?" Lucus stared at his father wordlessly. The pounding of his heart was too loud; he was afraid of others hearing it.
"What are you talking about? I have Moni. She's the one I'm going to mate with." He spoke and watched as his father's face hardened. The soft but firm eyes turned into something more intense.
"That girl is not good for you, son. She is not the omega you are going to mate with." For a moment, Lucus felt like his heart had stopped. Lucus kept staring at his father with wide eyes, not knowing what to say.
"Dad-",
"I didn't give you permission to speak, Alex." He heard his father cutting his brother off harshly without any care. But it didn't matter to him at that moment. His heart screamed at him to say something. But his mind kept screaming that one word inside his head: 'no'. His mother's soft touch made him flinch and dragged him back to reality. His hand moved fast to remove his mother's hand from his shoulder, and he stood up, making the chair squeak and fall back to the floor.
"You can't! You cannot force me to marry a stranger. You can't do this to me!" Lucus screamed, making everyone at the table stand up.
"Of course I can. I am your father, and you do as I say. You're marrying the person I chose for you. And it won't be someone with a cheap background! It is my word." Damon spat venomously at his son.
Lucus was breathing heavily, and he clenched his jaw so tight that he wouldn't say something that he would regret later. A boiling fury swelled inside of him, and he clenched his fists so hard that he felt nails cut into his skin.
"Son listen-"
"No! You can't—how could you? I do not wish to marry a stranger. Mother, I already have Moni! I'm in love with her; why can't you understand?" Lucus yelled, cutting his mother off, not caring about how loud he was being. His father's face looked so bitter, and Alex looked helpless, not knowing what to do. But he tried his best to calm everyone down.
"She is just using you, and one day you will understand what I am doing, Lucus; I am your father, not your enemy. And one more thing, you're not marrying a stranger." His father said this after a few moments of silence.
His voice was so calm that it irritated Lucus so much. When he heard what his father said, it added more fuel to the fire that was raging inside him.
"W-what are you talking about?" Lucus eyes followed his father's movements as he walked over to their giant family portrail hanging inside the room. Lucus gaze pierced his father's back as he waited for an answer.
"You're mating with Emma James."
The air was filled with the subtle scent of lemons and candle wax.Gold tapestry runners featuring Batik motifs graced the tables by the entranceway to the hall, and crystal vases filled with white roses spilling out sat atop them, while bouquets of white roses wrapped in blue silk ribbons decorated the ends of the old wooden pews. The early morning sun shone through the stained-glass windows of the wedding hall and reflected pretty images onto the floor of the hall. Dozens of candles in every size were placed on the altar, ready to be lit when the ceremony started; they would lend a soft and warm glow to the happy couple as they stood before friends and family professing their love for one another.Zia studied the decorations with a critical eye—everything had to be perfect. She had pale yellow roses braided into her long dark hair and her dress, a long column of silver—not quite white and not quite grey—that shimmered under the lights with every moment. Satisfied that everything was
A small family could be heard all the way down the street from their apartment. A toddler was throwing a fit by the sounds of her crying and screams, and two people could be heard arguing."You! Get out of my home now!!"Emma hissed at her father, who was standing a few feet from his daughter and granddaughter, sporting a scowl.Emma was doing everything she could not to gently set her daughter down in her playpen and lunge for her father's throat. Nadia is now four years old; she's grown to be a beautiful toddler. She was clinging to her mother like her life depended on it and was crying hysterically. Emma was rocking back and forth in his arms and glaring at Robert in hatred."That thing is an abomination. She shouldn't even exist!" David spat, glaring at the toddler in disgust. The toddler whimpered at the insult and clung even tighter to her mother. Emma was enraged and could barely control herself. The only thing keeping her from screaming at her father was the little girl in her
Emma complied, taking the last few steps towards Lucus. The Alpha pulled her into his arms, stroking her back lovingly. Emma wrapped her arms around Lucus as well, not able to prevent the smile she was holding back from spreading across her face. Lucus suddenly felt tense. Emma looked up at him and noticed a sour expression written across his features."What's wrong, Lucus?" She whispered."Nothing."Emma glared, not taking too kindly to being lied to. Lucus sighed in defeat and met her gaze. His eyes held so much sorrow and fear. "I'm not a good father," he whispered sadly.Emma gasped out in shock. How could Lucus think like that? It's not like someone can go from never being around children to being an expert on them in only a few weeks! Lucus was being too hard on himself, setting his expectations too high. Emma would do everything she could not to let Alpha beat himself up over not being experienced with kids."Lucus, you love both Clary and Nadia to pieces! How could you say tha
Lucus made quick work of her shirt as well before Allen returned with a white hospital gown. Lucus lifted Emma up slightly so she could slip it on her. They had just laid Emma back down when a door burst open and the doctor walked in. She was wearing her pale pink hospital gown and white flats. She came strutting through like she owned the place. She shoved Lucus and Emma aside, making her way over to Emma. She was currently panting and sweating as if she had just run a marathon. She grabbed one of the towels from the nightstand and dabbed it with some of the cool water in the bucket. She wiped the sweat rolling down her face before she began setting up everything she would need for the delivery. The group sat there for the next hour and a half. It was silent. Allen was in the other room talking to Alex, who had arrived ten minutes beforehand. Emma had requested that they leave the room. She didn't feel comfortable with anyone witnessing her give birth to the baby other than Lucus. Sh
A tap on Lucus window startled him out of his thoughts. He saw a woman in her forties with messy brunette hair standing in front of his window with a takeout bag. He rolled the window down, and she shoved the food at him. He rolled his eyes as she walked away. He looked down into the bag and noticed something strange. There was only lava cake.He snatched the bag and stormed out of the vehicle and into the restaurant. He slammed the bag on the counter in front of a startled-looking employee. She had her purple hair tied into a bun, and her green eyes were wide. He felt no remorse."I have been to two different Burger King's! I've had soda spill on my shirt, and then an old woman slapped me in the face! I got pulled over by a cop who vandalized my car and gave me a seven-hundred-dollar ticket simply because I'm married to Omega! Now your ignorant people make me pull off to the side to wait for onion rings that I've never received! I demand three large orders of onion rings, another sli
5 Years Later:"Lucus!"Omega sighed, placing her rainbow-striped bookmark in her fantasy drama novel. She strode out of her office and into the living room. His Alpha was sprawled out on the sofa, his chin in his palm, as he watched an episode of Modern Family. Emma was wearing nothing but an oversized hoodie and a pair of grey shorts. Despite the baggie hoodie and fluffy red blanket covering her torso, her nine-month pregnant belly was obvious. They'd wanted to be married for a little while before they had another child. So, after two years of traveling the world and going on many fun adventures, they settled down back in their apartment with Clary. They then proceeded to make mad, passionate love all night long. It was more overwhelming than any other time. Of course, it only took one round to impregnate Emma, but once they got started, they couldn't get enough of each other."Yes love?" Lucus asked. He couldn't help but eye the dozens of candy wrappers strewn about the floor. The
The whole idea had been Allen's.When she'd suggested the idea to Emma—to celebrate Clary's birthday in a cute and fun way that the little one could enjoy—she hadn't come up with anything wrong with it.Neither of them had taken in Alex as a factor, though. Which, between the three of them, they really should have?"I don't think that outfit is appropriate for children."Lucus raised his eyebrows in confusion. He gestured to Clary, who was clad in dark blue denim jeans and a deep green knit sweater, before turning to Emma with an expression that suggested he really thought Emma had lost her mind this time."I meant yours," Emma explained, pointing to Lucus bright yellow skin-tight jeans and glaringly obvious rainbow singlet, which he'd paired with a deep red jacket and black shoes."We're going to a zoo, Lucus, not a nightclub."Lucus pouted, and Emma sighed."Just dress it down a little for me today." She asked. "Please? I'll let you choose my outfit another time if you do this for m
"Where are you getting it?" Zia asked Emma, taking a cotton ball and dipping it in antiseptic."On my wrist," she says, holding out her right arm. Zia nods, wiping the skin of her wrist beneath her palm. She puts the cotton ball down and then purses her lips."Could you... I might need you to swap chairs with Lucus; I don't want to do this upside down."Emma nods. "Of course."She and Lucus switch, darting past each other. Lucus raises his eyebrows, hoping to get something out of either of them, but neither Zia nor Emma say a word."This is borderline torture." He complains, flopping into his seat. Zia smiles sympathetically, as if to say "This wasn't my decision".Emma just looks a little nervous."So, I'm going to outline the drawing in marker first, so you can be certain of its placement, and then if you're happy, I'll start." Zia explains.Emma nods, her eyes darting over to Lucus before returning to Zia. She smiles encouragingly, picking up a black, fine-tip, skin-safe marker and
"You want to get a tattoo?"Out of all the things Lucus ever thought he'd hear Emma say, getting a tattoo was not even a registered possibility."Yes." Emma nods, and Lucus knows Emma enough to accept that she's being completely serious."But you already have my mating mark on your body." Lucus states. He folds his hands behind his head, leaning backwards against the headboard. He had a feeling this conversation would be one he'd need to be relaxed for."Well, yes, but that's not the same." Emma replies. He sighs as Lucus raises his eyebrows."Mark's fade; some are permanent, but not all of them, and they're different. Mating marks speak of my mating. Tattoos are something that both of us can have, and it's more special and ... forever."Lucus leans over and kisses Emma's bare shoulder."You genuinely want this?" He asks to be certain. There's a warmth flooding him just from hearing that Emma wants to get something permanent that they can both share. Something different that no other
