We all instantly shifted our eyes to him. "My girlfriend is pregnant... I can't keep living this way. I could feel like there's going to be a war among the Mafia Dons soon... At least... between the Xavier, the Rossi and the De Luca. Ma'am is missing too... So..." He sighed heavily and just looked down at his shoes. "Mr Xavier won't just be silent with her leaving..." I added and now Marco sighed too.

Jack raised an eyebrow. "All over his uniform." Lela covered her face. Jack tried not to laugh. "Don't." "I'm not laughing." "You are." "I'm sorry." She pointed at him. "Stop saying you're sorry." I'm tempted to grab him closer. Luca started to lose the buttons of his shirt aggressively. I found his actions seductive and I was crazy to say he suddenly turned me on. As he pulled his shirt off, I noticed a scar on the left side of his chest. Scars weren't usually gorgeous, but this arrow-like scar on Luca's chest was….beautiful.

*Luca* I turn off the shower and shake the water out of my hair. Only now do I discover that I must have had a bit of a bad bite too. I run a finger through an irregular pink gap. It sits like a crescent-shaped tattoo on my chest. Well, there is enough meat to take off. I flex the muscles in my arm. If I had been just half as excited for this wolf shit as the other two, I would have probably appreciated the bulges that rise up in all the right places.

Luke's breathing was shallow, and this scared me, but he managed a weak smile. “Good job,” he murmured, his eyes fluttering shut. Panic surged through me again. “Luke, stay with me!” I pleaded, shaking him gently. His eyes opened a sliver, focusing on me. He chuckled, but the velvet sound was cut off with a low grunt. “Easy… on the merchandise darling…I'm not dying just yet.” It was amazing how he maintained his cheeky bravado with a hole in his abdomen. I collapsed on the couch, a heavy burden weighing on my shoulders as I took his hand, intertwining our fingers together, stained with blood.

Behind Lily, Luke coughed — wet, ragged. Blood hit the leaves. Lily’s chest tightened. She turned slightly. He was trying to stand again, golden eyes burning stubbornly despite the blood soaking his armor. Up close, she could see how badly he was hurt — ribs probably cracked, shoulder nearly split open, magic burns crawling across his skin like dark lightning.

No complaints. Livia spotted him and ran straight over. “What happened to your face?” Luca knelt down so he was eye level with her. “Just a little bump from work. Nothing serious. Makes me look tough, right?” She touched his cheek gently with one small finger. “Does it hurt?” “A little. But it’s okay.” She nodded like she understood everything. “Mama says knights get bumps sometimes. You want ice?” He smiled, the real one that reached his eyes. “Yeah. Ice would be good.”
