She yanked her hand away from Luca’s. “This isn’t what it looks like,” Luca said, nervously laughing. “I’m picking out a gift—for you. Chloe was just helping me get a female perspective.”

I was about to take out my phone when Chloe suddenly bumped into my arm on purpose. She glanced at my soaked clothes and smiled with disdain. “You should leave while you can. Aden hates messes. If he learns that you knocked over the champagne tower and made a mess in his house, he won’t let you off the hook so easily!” After that, she hurried off with the others to impress Aden. “Aden, I’m Chloe Lionel. Even though your parents aren’t here, Lucas and I will take good care of you at the party.” She reached out to stroke his short golden hair, but he dodged her touch with annoyance.
