I clenched my jaw to suppress the feeling his words stirred in me. Instead, I looked at the two troopers to see if the one he mentioned was there. They were both cute, and if this were before Logan, I’d have been interested. But now they do nothing for me. “Yes, there is a Trooper Bryant,” I answered. The trooper in question raised an eyebrow at his name and looked at me. “Luna?” he asked in a whisper that I’m pretty sure no one else heard. I blinked. ‘He’s a werewolf.’ Theia kindly pointed out. ‘Duh.’ I internally rolled my eyes.

“So what’s your question?” I stared at his good-looking face. I just noticed now that his eyes were pitch black and every time he blinks, the color suddenly changes into golden brown. His face gets closer to me, but not close enough that we would kiss. Just enough for us to see each other clearly and closely. Jacob is already twice my age, his son is years older than me. And yet he remained that silent power within him. “I really don’t have any question. I just wanted to say something since it seemed like we’re just gonna spend the whole time in this room with silence.”

As I round the corner to get to my office, I spot Robbie walking out of the communal lounge area. I go to call his name, but I'm silenced when I see Aria and Lottie walk out behind him. He turns to Aria, saying something that makes her laugh, and I freeze. That's the first time that I've heard her laugh, and it's incredible to hear. Only the moment the girls wave goodbye and walk down the hall, Robbie's shoulders slump, and I watch as he goes back to the quiet, sad version of himself that he has become lately.
