We were almost two hours in the massive Library but I only read a forbidden book about magic. "Yeah. This Book of Morgue matched the things that Doctor Zahard said to me." I said while continuing to read the contents. "So what did you find out?" Sandra added as she looked at me, waiting for me to reply.

When Anise shut her suitcase, there was a drizzle outside. Liam was packing the last few of his books in the living room. When he noticed Anise gazing absently at the rain outside, he approached and ruffled her hair, “Think you’ll miss this place?” Anise shook her head faintly before sweeping a look over the modest apartment she had been living in for the past six months. Liam's succulent plants were arranged in a row on the balcony. There was also the floral apron she bought, still hanging in the kitchen. There were two books about medicine and project planning, respectively, set side by side on the table.

The servants thought I had enchanted Dominic with some kind of potion. In truth, I had. During my time in the mental health institute, I thoroughly studied the pills I took every day. After moving into the mansion, I ground various pills into powder. I secretly mixed them with food and fed them to Dominic. I felt a rush of excitement every time I prepared the medication. I felt like an all-powerful magician. I poured the mixture into Dominic’s seafood porridge. “What are you doing?”

I grabbed them out of her hand. I put them up to her door. I got the key to unlock her door. We walked in the front door. I turned around, closed the door, and locked it. I walked across the room. I saw a lot of books on her bed. I looked around I saw a lot of beds, as we have over at the football camp. They like to have twelve bunk beds, but we have fifteen bunk beds. I didn’t have to look for her bed; I already knew where she was. I saw a pink and red blanket that has books on it. But one book stuck

I didn't stop until I reached the small, dark room near the laundry where I slept. I went inside and shut the door. I sat on my small cot and pulled the bird out. I stared at it for a long time. I could still feel the place where Diego had touched my hair. It felt like a burn. I realized that the mansion was not just a house. It was a board, and we were all pieces in a game. Mateo was the king, and I was just a pawn. And Diego? Diego was the one who wanted to change all the rules.

I placed all my things neatly inside a bag and put the bag on the bed. I took a deep breath and a looked around the room. It had been my room for years, so many years. I shook my head feeling foolish at my sentimentality, it wasn't like I was going far. I slouched back on the sofa in the living room, picking up a book from the table and flicking through the pages, I had read it before but I needed something to occupy my mind until my parents got back, otherwise I would spend the next couple of hours worrying.
