“You did well bringing her here.”
Vanessa stepped forward crossing her arms. “I held up my part of the bargain. Now I want mine.”
The Architect chuckled. “Ah, Vanessa. You've not changed, huh.. Always so impatient.” He signaled at one of his men. “Give her the case.”
One of the guards handed Vanessa a metal briefcase. She flipped it open, nodded, then shut it. “Pleasure doing business,” she said, turning to leave.
I took a slow breath, forcing myself to stay calm. If Vanessa was leaving, it meant I was being left alone with him.
