She clung to him, chasing him everywhere, even making up nonsense about having tan-skinned ancestry to explain the child's appearance.
So, one kept running while the other kept chasing.
Benedict was so stressed that he couldn't sleep properly. During a fire rescue, his exhaustion got the better of him—he lost focus and was crushed by falling debris. He survived, but his back was badly burned, and one of his legs was shattered.
A stroke of bad luck, yet somehow he was still lucky to be alive.
I sighed. It wasn't like I could gloat over something this serious.
