Mako Mermaids Novels & Stories

Maddie teased as she laughed “Girls, shush” Heather said, standing next to them. Maddie rolled her eyes and made faces to Cindy who covered her mouth so not to let her own laugh escape. They had all left the dorm twenty minutes ago. Along the way, a few people joined them, their powerful auras blending as one in protection of Gemma. Cindy and Maddie had looked on in awe as they saw being they had only ever heard about. The dragons were different in their appearance as could be. Their noses were shark and angular, their stature big and bulky. Even the women weren’t petite, wispy creatures. In fact, they all resembled athletes. Toned, sleek, muscular with sharp reflexes….and tall...very tall.

"I hope you have a valid excuse." "I do ma'am. I got a 98% on my exam." Everyone stared at Ariel in awe, even Polly. "No fair, Ariel. I only got a 95%!" Polly exclaimed. "I know it's difficult for people like you to believe, but I work very hard to receive the score I've gotten. Now if you'd please, Polly and I would like to get started on cutting open the thorax of our frog." Ariel said without any other words exchanged. Ariel and Polly cut open the frog and then its stomach.

Some were taller or thinner than others, but all were ornate and enticing in their own ways. "This one will take you right down to the bottom of Blackfish Bay." She chirped, bouncing over to a door that was stained with black dye. The doorknob was silver, with little leaping fish protruding from its flesh. I moved back a few steps when murky water trickled and seeped from the cracks and keyhole of the door. "Oh, don't worry about the water, every now and again a little trickle through the cracks. You sure you don't want this one? Blackfish Bay mermaids are highly coveted. A single scale could support your family for years!"

It would be best to start clarifying everything. "Those mermaids are not like us, they are half monster, half fish. They are Irish Syren, Oceania´s enemies, and they are our enemies," I explained. "And you are not half fish, half monster? I saw how you transformed when you protected your sister, and it was quite terrifying," he replied. And I felt his doubt as a painfull knife. I felt his eyes on me. It was, because when a mermaid gets angry, she becomes like an animal, we unleash our animal instinct."

She replied. I didn’t get anything she said. It was somewhat metaphoric that I find it hard to absorb. For a moment, I just stared at her in the hopes she would get to conclude that I am thirsty for explanation. Magindara let out a sigh. “For as long as there are any bodies of water, the eyes of the merfolk will be able to witness everything. Remember, Oryol is a serpent goddess and that time, she was inside a tank full of water. We have the ability to see everything using the water as our medium. May it be past or present.” She finally explained.

said Mika. There it was what Mr Estenhuiz was hiding all along, a scary creature, similar to a mermaid. It had the face that looked like humans and the lower part looked like a fish, with a strong sharp tail. “what the hell is that?” I asked. “a mermaid” said Katleho. “We need to get out of here!” Mika said in a state of panic. Katleho took out a knife which she had been keeping in her long heeled boot on the left, then began to cut off the rope on her hands until it was torn.

The crisp pearl driblets of moist from the enormous veined leaves gradually fall to the damp ground and blood-curdling scarlet red crawling creatures are enjoying the humidity. The mermaids are slowly lifting their curvaceous bodies from the river displaying their metallic rainbow scales that brightly captures by the golden sunbeam. Cold creeps from their porcelain skin as they are gossipping about one of their sisters who will be punished by Lord Martin, the arrogant werewolf leader of the Tikaluna tribe.

I leaned against the cold stone wall, sinking into a hollow stupor for a long while. Just then, two servants passed by the dungeon door. Their hushed whispers drifted in, every word cutting deep into my ears. “Isolde’s cursed puppet craft is dreadfully perilous. She hunted and drained countless lesser merfolk for pearl curse powder, merely to gather enough ritual materials.” “Indeed. Once the puppet is complete, it will crush all rebels within the vampire clan, and drain this mermaid’s last breath entirely. Lowly foreign creatures are born to be offerings for our master’s sorcery.”

The word hung in the air like ash and flame. "Most of our records conflate the Siren with the Mermaid," the scientist continued, his tone clinical and detached. "It is a common error of the uninitiated. To understand the difference, one must look at the natural world. Think of the Mermaid as an alligator - a localized predator, efficient but limited. The Siren, however, is the saltwater crocodile. Larger, more aggressive, and possessing an impossible strength and kinetic energy that transcends the aquatic domain. While Mermaids lure to drown, Sirens command the very frequency of the original night."

But what really caught her attention was the centre of the tank, where a magical spectacle awaited. In the midst of the vibrant coral and graceful seaweed, the mermaid display was the star attraction. I could see Mackenzie’s gaze fixated, her breath catching in her throat. The mermaid was truly something out of a fairy tale. Its tail shimmering in shades of turquoise and gold, scales glistening as they caught the light. The creature’s long, flowing hair seemed to dance with the gentle currents of the water, and her voice, soft and melodic, filled the space with an ethereal quality that made it feel like we had stepped into another world. Of course, the girl-mermaid was just lip-syncing under
