“There’s one around the corner. We can check it out tomorrow if you want.” “Oh my God,” she breathed. “There’s a book club? I’ve always wanted to go to one. Talk about books with real people and all that. Thank you so much, Nolan.” The smile in her voice made my chest ache in the best way. “But,” she added, “the book club is tomorrow. I’m talking about tonight. Like, I can’t close my eyes right now. I keep seeing that image. It’s just... messed up.” “I know,” I sighed. “But it’s too late for me to come over, and you can’t come here either. Not tonight. We’ll talk tomorrow, alright?”

Beneath were flawless downward-turned lips she knew Sean satisfyingly feasted on now and then. A grim stare in her direction had Gianna turning her face in embarrassment. He caught her staring. Should she call it a miracle that Sean hadn't looked her way all day or gotten two meters close to her? Was it due to the effect of the slap or simply a bite of guilt? Whatever it was, she hoped it lasted a while longer. "We have a book club going on, I believe you must have heard about it." Gianna began. "The book donation thingy?" "Yeah, we campaign for you to join us. If you're interested that is," she offered. "New ideas for improvements are welcome at any time." She added, for effect.

"I felt the creep whenever I came here." I ran my fingers of the spine of each book and then I read the manga's title one by one: "Hanayori Dango", "Harumatsu bokura", "Tsubaki chou planet", "Reimei no Arcana", "Akatsuki no yona". These are all shoujo (romance genre). But there are other sport genre too, like: "Slam dunk", "Haikyuu", "Prince of tennis", "Eyeshield twenty-one", "Kuruko basketball". Fantasies and action genres are available too: "Demon slayer", "Hakuoki", "Bungou stray dogs", "Attack on titans".

I sat on Xavier's lap, Dane and Theo on either side of me as we chatted with their parents, Marilyn already popping one of the faerie bottles and pouring four glasses. She handed one to me and I blinked in surprise. "If you're joining Book Club, you'll need to get use to the buzz." She winked. My ears twitched and they all chuckled. "You'd allow me to join your Book Club?" I asked, Xavier squeezing me sweetly. The mother's smiled at me, sitting shoulder to shoulder beside Dane. "Theo says you're reader of classics." I smiled and nodded. "I love them." Thena pulled out a bag from under the table.

It was more for Kendra's sake, but Demitri would be lying if he said he didn't enjoy an excuse to spend more time with his friends. Every Friday after school, Kendra, Steve, and Kyle would join them for book club. They each took turns picking the book, but as usual Becca and Demitri were the only two that actually cared. While they had written summaries and detailed notes about the book, the others brought blank paper most the time so they could catch just enough facts to make it seem like they read it.

He shifts back; putting a seat between us and truly looking horrified. Bibah simply shakes her head at our childish shenanigans and takes a sip of her iced latte, metal straw clinking in the Hydro Flask. “The Awoo Book Club’s pick for this week is H.P Lovecraft.” She pats the voluminous book atop the pile and I notice it’s the library copy of H.P Lovecraft’s Omnibus 3. “I’m so excited to roast his ass.”

Aiden eagerly shared this with his grandparents. "One Piece?" Shantelle asked with a brow raised. "Is that a book?" Everyone was at the dining table, having a feast. Lucas cleared his throat from his seat and answered, "It's a Japanese manga series, Mom." "It's an adventure story," Lucas added. "I know that manga. It is inspirational," Evan said. He chuckled and suggested, "But maybe we can read a shorter story for bed, Aiden?" "Um. Okay, okay," Aiden said, and by the look on his face, he was searching through his brain. Eventually, he suggested, "I like Greek Mythology."

“That’s my favorite manhwa. Of course I know!” "I really enjoyed reading that manhwa, too! I especially liked Director Kim's character!" Brandon and Belinda laughed happily at each other. They couldn't even hear the thunder, as they felt like the world belonged to them alone. "But manhwa is for adults. Why are you reading it? Didn't you check the ratings first?" Belinda folded her arms across her chest. "The writing is for readers over the age of 18. I'm already 20! I can read it now."
