I gasped as I walked to the front desk of the hotel, it was beautiful. Classy as hell and wooden everywhere. It was fitting as it was in the middle of the woods. Only Steph can make a serious situation not serious. When Steph comes back out we grab our purses and start walking to Walgreens. The sidewalks have thinned out by half the crowd and the temperature has seemed to drop by at least ten degrees now that the sun is down and the moon is shining. The lights from the skyscrapers are lit and the beauty of nighttime Chicago is beaming.

Melanie stepped out from behind Henry, her face a picture of innocence, yet her smile was anything but. "Selena, this is the maternity ward. How could you just 'pass by'? You're here for Henry, aren't you?" Henry's eyes, complicated and heavy, landed on me, his voice filled with resignation, "Selena, there's no need for this. I told you that we're getting remarried on the first of next month." I stayed quiet, hiding behind Wren, not ready to reveal the truth. Melanie's eyes flashed with anger, and suddenly she clutched her stomach while exclaiming, "My stomach... Is the baby coming?!"

3rd person’s POV The moon was red that night. The kind of red that stained the pines, the stones, even the eyes of wolves who dared to look too long. Kaelor stood first in the clearing. Tall, scarred across the jaw, his silver cloak brushing the earth as he waited. He was always the first. Always patient. Always steady. His men said he carried the weight of three packs on his shoulders, but in truth he carried something heavier the ghost of a woman’s scent, still fresh in his mind after so many years.

March arrives with the first real suggestion of warmth. Not warmth exactly. The suggestion of it. The air is still cold, but it has lost the February edge, the personal quality that made January and February feel like the city was making a point. March air is neutral. It is neither punishing nor forgiving. It simply is, which, after two months of February, feels like a kind of grace. The studio is at full capacity.

Sutburg was filled with flowers in spring, petals flying toward us in the wind, pink, white, and many other colors. Some flowers landed on my shoulder, and I thought to myself that I had made it through winter. And finally, my spring was here.
