It’s early morning at the start of August and it’s already hot and humid outside. Bo, Max, and Rich all meet up at my mother’s house to drive over with me to this building we’ll be guarding as part of the new job we’re all taking. I use my phone to navigate there and we sit in the car’s AC while we wait for Sy and Amory to arrive. When his silver Mercedes pulls into the lot, I kill the engine and we all get out.

"Bright, they can make the saddest of souls happy, just like you, when you want to, that is." "I never thought you'd really ask me on a date." I said despite the butterflies in my stomach. "Me too, but I wanted us to have this night, I might be away for a couple of days." My heart dropped, and I felt coldness spreading through my veins, "Why? What happened?" He let out a breath, "My pack is under attack in Jamestown." He gave me a pointed look, "A few wolves aided by a witch are on my pack members. Separate kills as it seems…"

I gripped the fingers he’d pressed into mine, and I was so damn grateful he was there, his staunch loyalty holding me together. Rhea leaned forward. "We march in three days. Prepare yourselves." I walked to the door at the end of the meeting, stood outside in the cool mountain air. I was burdened with the responsibility. Mark stood next to me with his hands in his pockets. “Well this is officially insane. I let out a small laugh. "Yeah. It is." He breathed, gazing up at the stars. “For what it’s worth, I’m on your side. Even if we all die horribly."

"This is not just weird anymore, and wait until you hear about their birth month." Something was telling me I didn't want to hear it. "They were all born in January or February." My lips got dry suddenly. "How did you get this information?" "I may or may not have checked some files," Kai smiled with a shrug. I tried to shake off the weird thought. Maybe I was overthinking, maybe all of it was just a coincidence. But no matter how much I tried to convince myself, a heavy feeling in my chest was saying otherwise. The murders were not random.

Jordan proudly answered and I gave him an applause. The three girls just face palms, well, it's a good thing that I listened to that voice that says; 'be friend with that gay.'

Giselle screamed in excitement. "Tread quietly, okay?" Thomas warned. "Why?" She asked, scattering the clothes on the floor. "Why?! So we don't miss the trousers!" He answers, picking a trousers. "Not pink!" He screams. "Relax!" She cautioned, picking another trouser. "Not pink!" Thomas screamed again, throwing a bunch of trousers on the floor again. "I'm tired!" "You can't be!" She screamed at him. "But, I am!" He screamed back. "A pink trouser and a white polo," She said, picking and throwing clothes that didn't match her description.

“Kael. He’s moving the pieces. We’re just… in the way.” The mist thickened until I couldn’t see ten feet ahead. Somewhere out there, something splashed again. Roman tightened his grip on his sword. “Pack up. We keep moving.” Night in the marsh was worse than I imagined. The air pressed in, heavy and wet, and every sound carried forever. Branches snapped underfoot. Shapes shifted just beyond sight. Kaela walked between Lira and me, whispering things under her breath. Names. Places. Dates. I didn’t recognize any of them.

There was a small lull before a boy in the back raised his hand; "Sir", he paused, "How exactly or what exactly pertains to winning the award?" he asked curiously. "Matches", he answered, "You will play sports, martial arts, music, art, games, etcetera", he stated, "Mr. Edwards will be giving you the details later", he informed them forestalling any interruption he raised his hand and continued, "One year comprises of twelve months, obviously", he muttered and then shook his head, "But at this school, one year is completed in nine months, you get three months off for your winter, summer and exam months. It's the first of April, so from the 1st of May when your classes officially begin that's

"Get me hot chocolate!" Mariano told Meela to make me hot chocolate while I watched Tom Ellis and marveled over his sexy accent. "What's gotten into you all of a sudden?" He asked. I shrugged. "It's the red wedding." "Whose wedding?" Mariano's brow furrowed. "Who are you going with?" The man really was clueless. What a man thing to say. I coughed. "The time of the month?" He looked quickly at his phone. "It's the second week of this month. What about it?"

I need to go to my spot and clear my head. I cannot shift, so I'm walking the slow way to the clearing. The whole time Inari is just telling me to go back and repeating mate over and over. "Please stop! I just need some quiet for a little bit." She hisses at me but stops yammering and reseeds to the back of my mind. I'm almost to the clearing. It's early March, it's still chilly, and all the plants are just sprouting.
