"It was me who asked for her help in saving the rogue because I couldn't let it die in the woods. It was supposed to be me, not Ava... so if you could, please..." I saw how his expression darkened as he clenched his jaw. "Rogues are one of our enemies, Tasha," he said the exact same words that Raiah told me earlier. "Bringing an enemy inside the packhouse is a grave sin that a pack member could commit, and the only punishment for it is..." He interrupted himself, and I could only look down, hoping that it was not too late for me to do something to save Ava. "Please..." I begged.

Damon noticed. “Interesting, isn’t it?” She snapped the folder shut. “I’m not impressed.” “You should be.” Their eyes locked. The tension between them became thick enough to feel. One of the investors shifted uncomfortably. “This partnership could triple market reach.” Matteo leaned forward. “We don’t work with enemies.” Damon finally turned his attention to him. And the temperature in the room dropped. “You’re not my enemy,” Damon said quietly. “You’re just… in my way.” Matteo stood up instantly.

Jade hesitated for a second before finally sipping from it. His eyes lit up immediately. "Okay, this is actually good" he admitted. "I told you, only the finest" Rally grinned, proudly. Jade ended up finishing the rest in one go. Rally blinked. "Damn" Jade reached for the bottle again. "So, tell me, my friend. Who are you playing against tomorrow?" Rally asked, leaning back into the couch with his own drink. "Just a local team from North Carolina, the Super eagles" Jade replied, reaching for the bottle and pouring himself another round.

There was no happily ever after waiting for us. We were enemies in disguise waiting for the perfect moment to strike first. A mafia and an assassin, each with orders to end the other. If Julian ever learned that, he wouldn’t laugh. He’d run. Because in the end, this game only allows one of us to walk away alive. And yet, in the middle of this game, a new player appeared. “Who are your enemies, Catherine?” I jump at the warm breath on my ear—dammit, I didn’t even hear Cain move. “I can’t be certain,” I mutter, pissed at myself for dropping my guard. “I’ve pissed off just about every creature on earth. Humans, vampires, Blackthorn, demons, witches, warlocks, ghouls, zombies, Chimera—you name it. Anyone or anything could be coming up to say hello.”

He probably didn't believe that I could save him back then too until I did now. “No, it's not that I don't believe you, it's just…it's just that it's hard to believe that anyone would try hurting Gordon. Our enemies are out there, not in here” Hunter demonstrated and I gave him a side-eye. Does he really think that Gordon possibly didn't have enemies here in his pack? Isn't it said that it's the ones closest to you that are your enemies?

He told her with a smile. "My hard head maybe?" She asked him. "Take the news down. This is not the honorable way to fight silver enterprise. We should be going about this some other way." She told him. "Some other way?" Godson asked her with a mocking laugh. "Tell me, dear cousin. What other way is there? To fight with what we have? The companies? There is no way we will win that. And besides that is just too lame. There are other ways to crush your enemies." He told her.
