I said. Marina and Jason exchanged looks. "Actually, that doesn't seem like a bad idea," Jason said. He was finally smiling. Marina frowned. "I would have to kiss random strangers, so no thanks." Jason shrugged. "Oh well, then don't worry about it." He looked back at me. "You heard her. She doesn't want to. So, you can leave us alone now." There goes my chance to get exclusive initiation photos. I gave up and walked away, but I kept them within my sight. I quietly followed them around. They didn’t do anything interesting other than play some games at several booths and take pictures. But it looked like they were having fun.

The door suddenly clicked open, Mike walked out first, then Marinette followed, their jaws dropped when they saw me sitting there. Ohh… So it's Mike. Nice fit. “Hi,” I waved at them. “Hiii… Rory,” Marinette said, while Mike waved awkwardly. Mike looked a little neat, but Marinette looked like she ran a marathon, her hair was scattered, and her lipstick smudged across her face. “How was the exercise?” I asked with a teasing grin. “Good,” Mike replied. Marinette hid her gaze from mine. So now she is shy, isn't she?

Members of the team emerged from behind the stage, each holding a series of oversized photos: a sunset above the sea, a cliff in morning sunlight, seaside scenery, a bell tower on the square, a wine glass, and so forth. Producing high-quality landscape photos required a mastery of photography techniques. All were captivated by the breathtaking beauty captured in the photos. Marcelo squinted with a lack of interest, impatience evident on his face. He discerned a woman's figure in all the landscape photos: on the reef, within the wine glass, by the sea, under the sun. The woman was Renee. In one photo, her bluish shawl adorned a chair on the beach's right side.

Mara felt her head moaned. She looked around. Then her look fell on a wall. There were pictures. Dozens. Inflatable, fixed in rows. People. Men. Women. Children. All different. All photographed in front of a white wall as if it were registration images. Mara stepped closer. Your throat was dry. There was a name under each picture. A date. And a red stamp. Transferred. Mara ran the first pictures. A girl from the 80s. An older man.

The tools were elegant weapons. I accessed the feed from the beach house cameras and watched a brief clip of Marie at the terminal, hands in her pockets, turning her face up to the sky as if searching for something. Then the feed cut. The image froze and the software notified me the connection had ended for travel. I closed the laptop and sat back.

Ismael had explained to them that ships did not pass near that beach because there were no docks, and the closest one was half a day away from there sailing in parallel with the shore. Charlotte stopped walking, and since she was holding Marina’s hand, the siren stopped as well. Marina was confused by the sudden stop, so she turned around to check on her friend and she could see her with her sight fixed on the horizon. Marina then looked in the same direction and she also saw the silhouette on the water, making her confused.

Marinette keeps laughing each time Jaz talks about her experience with a young man at work. Apparently, the man told her she's too elegant and pretty to be single. He gave her some flowers, sent a letter, and asked her to become his wife. I cringe at the thought of Jaz getting married to such a dumbass. “Well, why did you turn him down?” Marinette's laughing hard, fingers digging into the shrimps on the dining table. She raises her head, meeting Jaz’s gaze. “He might really like you, you know?” She teases, “there's no harm in trying him out.”

Aleric said. "What's all these?" I muttered, still unable to understand what they were talking about. Did lady Marinette lie about Aleric raping her? And was that the reason why Aleric turned me down then decided to get married to Lady Marinette? I had to slightly open up the door to take a peak after making sure tbe coast was cleared. Marinette's mom, took hold of her daughters hand, "is what he's saying true? He was never intimate with you?" She inquired softly, yet Marinette couldn't say a word, her head shamefully bowed down.

Marinette sounds sad as she says, “Just go, Lauren. As you can see, I have important company. Just tell Chase that I’m safe and I don’t plan on leaving again today.” Lauren sighs in response and says, “It was nice to meet you, Princess Lux.” I nod in response before the door closes. Marinette breathes out and I can feel her eyes on me as she says, “Okay, it’s official, I like you.”

Marinette scrunches her nose and then nods and says, “Okay, thanks. Could you bring me Marigold?” The woman grabs the baby out of its bassinet, and I realize that’s where the blueberry scent is coming from. Marinette smiles as she holds the baby in her arms and the woman dismisses herself. Marinette glances at me and says, “So… Chase Croft.” The way she says my name makes butterflies erupt in my stomach. She looks me up and down and says, “That name sounds familiar, have I met you before?”
