I waved my hand in dismissal. “What about that girl over there? I saw you talking to her before. And I saw her at a party with Mike the other night. You know…before he was…murdered,” Jaimie said in a hushed tone. I looked in the direction he was looking and saw Marina. She was alone this time. “I don’t think so, man. She would never agree to it,” I said. She already hated me. This would just put a cherry on top. “Try for me. How about this, if you can convince her, I can help you take some pretty interesting pictures,” Jaimie said and smiled mysteriously.

Marinette keeps laughing each time Jaz talks about her experience with a young man at work. Apparently, the man told her she's too elegant and pretty to be single. He gave her some flowers, sent a letter, and asked her to become his wife. I cringe at the thought of Jaz getting married to such a dumbass. “Well, why did you turn him down?” Marinette's laughing hard, fingers digging into the shrimps on the dining table. She raises her head, meeting Jaz’s gaze. “He might really like you, you know?” She teases, “there's no harm in trying him out.”

Marinette sounds sad as she says, “Just go, Lauren. As you can see, I have important company. Just tell Chase that I’m safe and I don’t plan on leaving again today.” Lauren sighs in response and says, “It was nice to meet you, Princess Lux.” I nod in response before the door closes. Marinette breathes out and I can feel her eyes on me as she says, “Okay, it’s official, I like you.”

Marinette scrunches her nose and then nods and says, “Okay, thanks. Could you bring me Marigold?” The woman grabs the baby out of its bassinet, and I realize that’s where the blueberry scent is coming from. Marinette smiles as she holds the baby in her arms and the woman dismisses herself. Marinette glances at me and says, “So… Chase Croft.” The way she says my name makes butterflies erupt in my stomach. She looks me up and down and says, “That name sounds familiar, have I met you before?”

Mara felt her head moaned. She looked around. Then her look fell on a wall. There were pictures. Dozens. Inflatable, fixed in rows. People. Men. Women. Children. All different. All photographed in front of a white wall as if it were registration images. Mara stepped closer. Your throat was dry. There was a name under each picture. A date. And a red stamp. Transferred. Mara ran the first pictures. A girl from the 80s. An older man.

Aleric said. "What's all these?" I muttered, still unable to understand what they were talking about. Did lady Marinette lie about Aleric raping her? And was that the reason why Aleric turned me down then decided to get married to Lady Marinette? I had to slightly open up the door to take a peak after making sure tbe coast was cleared. Marinette's mom, took hold of her daughters hand, "is what he's saying true? He was never intimate with you?" She inquired softly, yet Marinette couldn't say a word, her head shamefully bowed down.

The door suddenly clicked open, Mike walked out first, then Marinette followed, their jaws dropped when they saw me sitting there. Ohh… So it's Mike. Nice fit. “Hi,” I waved at them. “Hiii… Rory,” Marinette said, while Mike waved awkwardly. Mike looked a little neat, but Marinette looked like she ran a marathon, her hair was scattered, and her lipstick smudged across her face. “How was the exercise?” I asked with a teasing grin. “Good,” Mike replied. Marinette hid her gaze from mine. So now she is shy, isn't she?
