My heart just did a literal somersault in my chest. “Devon... you’re crazy,” was the only coherent response I could force out.

I do not think we can accomplish this mission.” She said as she stood up and the other looked at her in surprise. This is the first time she has surrendered so quickly. “Are you crazy? The queen said that we should not return unless we have the girl with that energy with us.” Marta felt extremely angry, in addition to the fear that was controlling her in a terrifying way, to the point that she was afraid to meet her mate again, and she was not ready for that, so all she wanted to do was leave this place as quickly as possible.
