Superheated steam began to vent violently from Baraka’s mouth with every exhalation, hissing into the cool cavern air like a boiling locomotive engine.
Jabari pulled his fist back, staring in absolute shock. The obsidian armor on his knuckles was cracked.
"I punched him," Jabari whispered, looking at his shattered glass hand, "and it felt like hitting a solid wall of vulcanized rubber."
The dust cleared.
Baraka stood in the center of the ring. He was physically larger, his muscular density completely rewritten by the internal kinetic pressurization. His skin had darkened, taking on a hardened, elastic sheen that looked entirely impenetrable.
