I closed my eyes and felt him savoring my lips like he was accounting for all the months that we've wasted. I didn't know for how long we were kissing when I got the courage to push him away. A couple nearby kissed with desperate heat while another trailed fingers up a thigh with practiced ease. Everything here was performative, intoxicating. Everyone had something to prove. I was still spinning and taking it all in when Matteo leaned down, his lips brushing the outer part of my ear. “Careful, piccolo fiore,” he murmured, voice dark and rich. “You wear that mask too well. At the bottom, a door stood ajar, letting light spill out across the floor. I pushed it open. The three men were currently standing, with their faces hidden behind black masks that covered their eyes and bridges of their noses but left their mouth exposed—lips curved in predatory smiles. What had I gotten myself into? The one in the center stepped forward, his voice laced with dark amusement. “We can’t exactly leave here without some grand finale. Can we, darling?” My stomach flipped. This wasn’t the quick fuck I’d steeled myself for. My eyes darted around the room. There was a large bed with dark sheets against one wall, a sturdy wooden chair beside it, and on a small table, a smaller mask.

I asked again, searching his eyes for an answer. He leaned in until his lips were inches from my ear, his voice a lethal promise. "I want you to marry me by sunrise. Sign my contract, and I will give you the world. Refuse, and you can watch from your jail cell while Sarah turns your past into a parking lot."

Isadora asked and this time when Darrian looked over, she was sitting on Eutychus’ lap, while they both sipped their drinks. “Let’s just say it's a wolf’s favourite thing.Ah, it now begins. ” Darrian explained and as he did, the lights on the casino floor changed, everything was dim for a second before the floor was cast in a luminous lighting, casting soft shadows all over. The grand ballroom was filled with hundreds of masked billionaires, classical music swirling under the high, vaulted ceilings. The masks hid the greed and hunger of the elite, their eyes shining behind gold and silver lace. Kasen stood in the shadows of a marble pillar, his eyes glued to Maeva. She wore a breathtaking, midnight-blue gown, her face partially obscured by a delicate silver lace mask. Julian was standing beside her, trying to look charming despite the faint red marks on his neck.
