Maybe He'll Notice Her Now Novels & Stories

He made a mental note to pick up some sunscreen for her. She noticed him watching her, and a frown flashed across her face just before a self-conscious smile. She was a pretty little thing, not even the remnants of a black eye could hide that. He wondered if he should be thinking that way but figured 'pretty' was just an honest observation. He wondered for the thousandth time where she'd come from, and who, if anyone, might be looking for her. She seemed convinced someone was. Last night had been unexpected. He'd nearly broken his neck tripping over her. And she'd been out like a light once she'd settled on the cot.

“But you look more relaxed today. Infact you look eager to start your session and that is a first. Anything I should know?” He had to give it to her. She was extremely observant. Nothing ever got past her. He could hold his breath for a millisecond and she was sure to notice that little change. “I met someone….” He began

She turns off the television. Her gaze now fixed on me. Nadia’s smile widens, like she knows she’s won some small battle of attention, but I don’t care. My mind is still filled with images of him. ################

She saw someone else. “Penny, sweetheart it’s me Bobby.” I cooed at her. Her head tilted to the side. She looked like she was thinking. “Penny its ok.” I reached out slowly and touched her fingertips. Our bond tickled our skin and felt warm. Her eyes started to focus and she turned her gaze back at me slowly recognizing me. “Bobby?” She said slowly and more like a question. “Yes, baby it’s me, your mate. Its ok sweetheart I won’t hurt you.” I said.

When she saw he didn’t react, she was sure her guess was correct. Looks like his eyes can’t see. From the moment she met him until now, he has always looked straight ahead. At first, she thought he was looking at her, but now that she remembered, she realized he was just looking straight ahead, not at her. His eyes were unfocused, a little lifeless. She should have noticed sooner.

“I think it might be a match.” I grin. “Good. Maybe now he’ll stop staring at you all the time.” She tilts her head. “Have you noticed he hasn’t paid me any attention since Keisha got here?” I look at her for a second, then nod slowly. “You know what… you’re right.”

“…pattern recognition.” She narrowed her eyes. He sighed. Then admitted— “You always order this.” She stared. Then realized. Oh. That was true. She never noticed he noticed. Dangerous. --- She decided not to react. Bad decision. Because now she noticed everything. He moved naturally beside her. Matched her pace. Asked before crossing roads. Passed her things automatically. It didn’t feel new. Which was strange. Because he was literally visiting. --- She took him to one of her favorite breakfast places.

More like the expression of someone who has just encountered the look of someone who had just found the missing piece of a puzzle she hadn't admitted she was solving, and who is deciding how to handle it before anyone else in the room notices they've noticed. I noticed. I'd been watching for it since we'd arrived. I'd known this moment was coming when Eleanor's attention would find Leo and lock on. I'd hoped it wouldn't happen until after the legal meeting, maybe not until after the funeral itself. Eleanor had never been slow about anything that interested her.

“Not just, busy. Actually seeing someone. Properly.” I kept my back to her for a moment, filling a glass of water at the sink. “What makes you say that?” I said. “He just seems different. More distracted but also more, present, somehow. Like something has his attention.” She paused. “You see him at work. Have you noticed anything?” “He always seems focused to me.” “This is different from focused.” She pulled at a thread on the cushion. “I’m not worried about it. I think it’s actually good. I said last night I want him to have someone real.” She smiled. “Maybe he already does and I just didn’t see it.”

She doesn’t mind whether she stores it on her phone or her email. Clyde noticed her ring finger while sipping his coffee. She doesn’t have their ring. He always noticed it but it always slipped into his mind for some reason because he doesn’t mind at all. But lately, he’s fond of watching her closely that’s why he noticed every detail of her. “Where’s your ring?” he asked nonchalantly.
