In the twenty-seventh-floor boardroom, screens blinked to life as Mia tapped furiously on her tablet.
“An hour ago, MedSyn’s server flagged an anomaly during the final encryption transfer for the Shinomura acquisition,” she began, voice clipped and efficient. “Someone tried rerouting the key, which would’ve corrupted the entire deal file. If it had succeeded, the acquisition would’ve collapsed.”
Jaxon’s pulse spiked. “Who?”
Mia hesitated, swiping to a new screen. “The trace bounced through six proxies, but the origin–” She turned the tablet toward him. The screen showed the Hawthorne Group New York headquarters.
