She was surprised to find a young lady waiting by the door. "Leah? Why are you here?" Leah was an acquaintance of Meredith. She was a housekeeper working for Mr. Finneas in his residence and would usually be around the vegetable garden.

“It means Uncle Richard doesn’t get to decide anything about our family.” The boy nodded thoughtfully. “Good. “I remember the stuff about old man Shaw, sure. George and I were talking yesterday about the pandemic, and the plague pits all over town. Crazy fuck lost his marbles in that house.” Tommy drank. “More to it, though, more that happened later on. Don’t you remember what they used to say about Grace Meredith? The one who lived there, long after the Shaws were all dead and buried?” “I think so . . . it sounds familiar. Prominent family, right? Because the Meredith name got added into the town records. Long as I can remember, it’s always been called Shaw-Meredith House.” “Yep.” “Wait. Is she the one who killed herself?”

MILES: Meredith accepted my extended hand, allowing me to help her get down from the car. Her eyes were wide as she took in the extraordinary house and serenity of the environment. I, too, was impressed – my own home paled in comparison to Steele's lavish estate.

Meredith waits and takes my hand, swinging it slightly as she leads me into the house. The second we step into the house, Meredith calls out. “Mom! Dad! We're home!”

She walked to Mr Gray’s drawer and brought the box of drugs out. “These are all the drugs that are given to Mr Gray on a daily basis. Do you want me to pack some for you to the hospital? By the way, how is Mr Gray’s health?” She glared at the head servant who was a middle-aged woman and snatched the box from her. She doesn’t see any good reason why she should answer this woman. Although they were on good terms and she really liked her, right now she can’t trust anyone. Considering that this wasn’t the first time that someone was breaking her trust.

Novah’s POV She didn’t press. With the quiet efficiency born of years caring for a neglected child, she guided me inside, away from the prying eyes of the pack compound. The grand foyer, with its cold marble floors and imposing portraits of stern-faced Alphas from generations past, felt even more unwelcoming than usual. Meredith steered me towards the back of the house, towards the warmer, slightly shabbier domain of the kitchen.

A polished slab of black marble lay in the center, the only thing in the room aside from the stone walls and the silence pressing in around us. I stared at the name etched into the cold surface. Marcus Grey. “What! what is this?” I turned to Miri, my throat tightening. She looked older in that light. Smaller. Her shoulders hunched slightly as she lowered herself onto the edge of the stone platform nearby. “I have served the Greys for over thirty years,” she said, voice thin. “I held Grey in my arms when he was a baby. I buried his grand mother with my own hands. And ten years ago, this family... broke.”

She asked me. "He looked handsome though. He had this light grey eyes-" Ruhi sat up straight immediately giving me quite scare. "What did you just say!? Grey eyes!!??" "Is everyone in this family deaf?" "Yes, I told he had grey eyes." Her eyes widened so large I thought it would pop. "AADHVIK HAS GREY EYES!!"
