Ethan was standing there, his back to me, staring out the small window at the driveway.
"I don't have a book, Ethan," I said, my voice shaking. "What do you want?"
He spun around so fast I jumped. He didn't pin me this time; he just stood there, his presence filling the cramped room, looking clearly angry.
"Liam is a bottom-feeder, Riley. I told you that."
"And I told you I don't care what you think!" I snapped, my fear turning into a reckless sort of anger. "He’s nice, he’s normal, and he doesn't spend his time taking creepy pictures of his step-sister!"
