The metal door swung open and I gasped. Scattering backwards and landing on my ass, the bloodied face of Raze leered at me with a triumphant grin. Completely naked, the sword tattoo down his torso was obliterated with huge, wide scratches that could only be made by a wolf the size of Cyrus. He smoothes a hand over his blonde buzzcut, like that’s the thing making look rumpled. In a cool, knowing voice, “Good evening Mer. I’ve come to collect Ryan.” I know he is revelling in my horror but I can’t shut my gaping mouth. Ruby blood trickled down his chest, coating his thighs. Is it all his, he can’t have beaten Cyrus…that’s just impossible.

Some even pointed at Kaze, explaining his identity to the others. In the center of them was a man in a wheelchair—it was Rhys, whose legs were broken by Kaze. His head was bandaged, his face was swollen, and his legs were in thick casts, looking like a mummy. His eyes, however, looked fierce. I first looked at Ryu whose attention was now on me. I frowned then darted my eyes back to the paper. My eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets when I saw what was written inside. Seeing as I made no move to tell them what it was, Haruto, the dog, impatiently snatched the papers from me and read out loud; “Give your partner a head! Partner is Yua!”

Slowly, the cocoon broke apart and emitted billowing black smoke. "I will make sure that both of your hands will no longer be usable. I will also break your legs. Then your little neck. And lastly, your ribs." Hirayaksa emerged from the shattered cocoon. His skin was light gray. On his forehead were two horns that rose upwards. His eyes were a sharp yellow color. Rows of pointed teeth were embedded in his mouth. He wore a black robe with white accents in places. In his left hand was a thin black sword made of black metal.

Reese said, pulling out a steel rod from the debris and wrapping it around his arms like it was a normal bandage. “What are you doing?” I asked, looking at Reese. “Precautions. I can’t get bitten by those filthy creatures and in no way turn into one of them,” Reese said and Zephyr did the same around his arms, shin, and waist. “And you say I read zombie comics,” Zephyr taunted Reese, who was looking for something else in the debris. “What’s wrong with a teenage boy reading zombie comics?” Reese said annoyingly. “Nothing. I don’t judge people based on their reading preferences, unlike someone else,” Zephyr said and Reese rolled his eyes.
