Reyn was staring at me, disappointment written all over his face. “What? I didn’t kill someone,” I took a step forward and images flooded my brain again. Memories not mine, yet it was mine. I sat by the river, happily packing clay into my bowl, then I suddenly froze when someone touched me. I snapped and pushed the person into the river. Just brief flashes of a life I never lived, or rather, the original Serena lived. “System,” I called, but there was no answer. “System, don’t you dare ditch me now,” I called again, but what followed was a glitching mechanical voice.

A few minutes later and she was dead. Maika watched as the flames spread and eventually, it covered the dining. The harmony of their screams were like music to her ears. Death” I choked as I called him Death. “He does,” Mia admitted. “Then why don’t you let him in??” I asked as I took a bite of the properly cooked sardine. “It's very complicated…..” Mia said. “Being rejected is like hell on earth, imagine if other creatures find out I and Death have a romantic relationship. They had come after my head and anything or anyone I care about” Mia yawned.

She asked and I was relieved she asked John instead of me. John looked at me pleading with his eyes for me to do the talking but I just couldn’t bear it to break such news to her. He cleared his throat as I took a step closer to Jess. “Ma’am, Maya was found dead today by a dumpster.” He explained and her face which held smiles now turned sour. “Are we talking about the same Maya? My best friend?” She asked as she welcomed denial which I already anticipated. “Yes ma’am your best friend was found dead minutes ago.” His final words settled in the air as Jess closed her eyes and fainted.
