Metal Gear Rising Novels & Stories

Their heavy barrel mechanisms slouched toward the earth, the red power rings circling their bases flickering out like dying embers. For three agonizing seconds, there was absolute silence. The citadel held its collective breath. Then with a deafening synchronized roar that shook the very foundations of the valley, the turrets hummed back to life. The heavy machinery groaned as the massive gun emplacements whirled around on their mountings, turning away from the borders and locking into a new unified defensive formation. The optical sensors at the tips of the barrels flared brightly, flashing away from Saed's dead, frantic red and solidifying into a crisp, lethal and unyielding Blackwood blue

It is the first time since the void opened that anyone on this ridge has looked like they might survive the next five minutes. Riven gives Jax a brief, feral grin of approval and drops into a lower stance. The first Convergence soldiers open fire—not bullets, but the same cold mechanical resonance nodes the earlier agent used. Thin beams of distortion slice the air. One catches a soldier in the shoulder and the man simply folds, expression going blank as if the will to stand has been edited out of him. Sera presses harder. Now, successor. Or watch them take the living threads one by one. I make the only choice that still feels like mine.

"Not a bad harvest for early morning," she murmured, taking a sip of the warm black coffee. "Scrap metal, new firearms, and a captive mechanic."

Amy maintained a calm tone of voice while speaking firmly to the killer. “I was just curious. You don’t have to get defensive, my lovely, Asian flower.” The gunman’s voice trailed down to a growling whisper. The burly, bearded man stared across the room at Amy with ungodly thoughts seeping into his mind. “You came in here and ignored me. You won’t even tell me how you enjoyed my game. I based the game on your life experiences. I named the video game Gunmetal Mama in honor of your MMA fighting career.” The gunman showed his teeth while sneering at Amy. “I’m so flattered,” Amy spoke to the gunman through a dry tone, unleashing her sarcasm. She returned her hands to the front of her stomach whe

The atmosphere crackled with tension as Alcides struggled to rise. The chant of "kill, kill, kill" echoed, Helios closing in on Alcides. The metallic clicks echoed in the small space. I noticed some of the cameras were glitching, the feeds breaking up into blue static and pixelated squares. Someone was crashing them or tampering with them, taking down their ability to see what was happening. Both Cassien and Elias cursed at the same time, their voices overlapping in frustration and anger. I played with the trigger of my gun to keep the tension from eating away at me, from making me shake apart. The metal was warm now from my grip, slick with the sweat from my palms.

Mae saw it, and that almost broke her. They entered through the northern atmospheric breach, riding Lucien’s shield while Ashar burned through drone swarms ahead of them. Riven cut through pursuit systems with brutal precision, wings slicing through metal bodies that dropped from the sky like dead insects. Sethis moved beside Mae, shadows slipping through command channels and severing signals from the inside. Kaine fell last, not behind them, but through them, gold light forcing corrupted machines to recognize change whether they wanted to or not.

I was a man looking for a variable that didn't want to be found. I stepped into the elevator and pressed the button for the garage. As the doors closed, I felt the first tremor shake the floor. The game had changed. The merger was over. The war had just begun
