“Have a seat. This will take a moment.” Instead of sitting, I watch her as she walks about the room, pulling out small glass plates and swiping the scrapings across them. She tilts it in her hands and then nods again before putting it under the microscope. Then, she looks through the lens, moving the knob on the side of the microscope before stepping back. “There you go,’ she says. I frown but step forward and look at the slide. I have no idea what I’m looking at, but … “What’s that moving?” I say, looking at her and feeling revulsion that something’s alive in my wound.

"I'm ready. Show me what you do here." Dustin cleared his throat and pointed at a table covered in a cloth. "So, um...this is kinda what we've been working on." He dramatically pulled away the cloth, revealing a sleek, high-tech microscope. "Ta-da! Our pride and joy. Okay, maybe not joy, but it's definitely advanced." I approached the microscope, intrigued. "And what's so special about this?" Hunter stepped forward, his demeanor more serious. "This microscope isn't just any microscope. It's equipped with cutting-edge technology for detailed genetic analysis. We use it to study DNA, identify mutations, and delve into the molecular intricacies that can lead to diseases."
