THE MIDNIGHT HOWL

THE MIDNIGHT HOWL

I turned slowly and Madam Pika was standing right there looking irritated, she frowned and walked away slowly. "What is wrong with everyone today?", Bubby said and Beatrice laughed from afar, "the party is 1 hour away, everything has been set, let's go have a cool bath, dress up and resume our serving duty, today is going to be real hectic!", Bubby said walking out with the bottle of wine, if Bubby was fine with her chores, why can't I be?. ////////////////////////////////////////////// POV(FIONA), I walked down straight to the beach in my uniform heading to the serving point, darkness had took over the day and the moon came to light it up, it was a full moon tonight, and it was somewhat spe

Gibbous Flat White for Levine, Short Macchiato Lune for Huxley, Cappuccino Pink Moon for Krysyle, Mocha New Moon for Michane, Red Blood Salted Caramel for me, and Crescent Americano for Clint. “The usual coffee?” Clint asked, popping out of the blue. I smiled at him and answered, “Yeah, it’d be a cold night for us. So I made these.” “Mari, remember 2 movies tonight. But if you can’t manage, it’s okay to close the cafe by 8 pm. We have to go now.” I said and left the cafe with Clint. He’s been driving for a while now and it’s already lunch. We went to a drive-thru and decided to park and eat for a little while and he started driving again.

“It looks like just 5 of us tonight since Grace got dragged into babysitting her niece and Evan was grounded for something he refuses to reveal and Eddie has to go to his father’s place this weekend. “ Chantelle informs. She always knows what is going on with everyone. The Nightingale Cafe is in a brick building much like many of the buildings in the area, however the inside has a warmth, with wooden tables and vintage velvet sofas and small stage with a single stool and a pair of microphones. The lighting is dim, but not so dark as to not be able to easily make out the features of those around us. Jace grabs us each a cappuccino and chocolate biscotti before we make our way towards Sidney a

The Billionaire's Hidden Vows

The Billionaire's Hidden Vows

As if even the dark had memory. The café Rhett mentioned was nestled between a butcher shop and an abandoned pharmacy. It had no sign, only a red candle flickering in the window. Inside, cracked porcelain teacups lined the shelves. No music. No warmth. Just old wood and older stares. She sat at the marked table. The candle burned low. Ten minutes passed. Then twenty. Then— The door creaked. A woman entered. Pale. Striking. Her coat was military black, buttoned to the throat. Her boots clicked like code. She had eyes like static—gray and storm-lit.

unmasked desire

unmasked desire

"I'm sure." The bartender studied him for a long moment, then seemed to make a decision. "Wait here." He disappeared into the back. Elias stood at the counter, trying not to look as anxious as he felt. What if this was a mistake? What if he was being reckless, naive, walking into something dangerous because he was too desperate for answers? But what if he wasn't? What if this was exactly what he needed? The bartender returned, sliding a small black card across the counter. It was matte, expensive-feeling, with only an address embossed in silver and four words: Midnight. Sunday. Alone.

100 Nights to Tame a Cursed Heart

100 Nights to Tame a Cursed Heart

It was neutral territory, full of humans and wolves alike, and most importantly, it was nowhere Virginia would think to look for me. The café on the third floor was quiet this time of night. I ordered a black coffee and found a table by the window overlooking the main concourse. The normalcy of it—families with kids, couples window shopping, teenagers hanging out—was almost soothing. God, when had my life become such a mess?

Whispers of Stardust: A Cursed Destiny

Whispers of Stardust: A Cursed Destiny

In twenty-three years, I've never seen anyone without an aura. "Welcome to Moonrise Café," Luna says, already reaching for a to-go cup. "What can I get you?" The man approaches the counter, stopping a few feet away from me. His eyes—a stormy gray that matches the October sky outside—flick in my direction, then away. "Black coffee," he says, voice deep and clipped. "Large." I'm staring. I know I'm staring, but I can't help it. It's like looking at a photograph in a world of videos—flat, static, impossible.

Born of Blood, Bound by Hate

Born of Blood, Bound by Hate

Or was there another path hidden beneath layers of hate and tradition? In a narrow alley, he discovered the café he often visited: an intimate refuge for wayfarers of the night and those drawn to the uncanny. Lanterns hung from iron beams, casting a honeyed glow onto mismatched tables. Aromas of spiced tea mingled with the sharper tang of copper and leather. Rain hammered the corrugated metal roof in a frenetic staccato as Maverick slipped into a shadowed booth at the far end, close enough to overhear murmured confidences yet far enough from prying eyes. He traced intricate patterns on the fogged windowpane, watching rivulets of water carve abstract runes into the glass. Beyond the pane, neo

Auctioned Mates Revenge

Auctioned Mates Revenge

From what Owen told me about bussing tables and listening to the people eating, a lot of people were excited about having wholesome brunches in the same space that they had spent the night getting hot and sweaty in. I don’t think I would ever understand the draw, but Matt seemed to. If I was a little embarrassed and pleased that one of the stars of the menu was made with Cocoa Madness, no one could blame me. I was sitting in the re-done office in the back of the club when a knock sounded on the door. Emoni looked up from where she was seated taking a typing class on the laptop Matt had bought her as the man came in. He gave us a slight smile, “The Midnight police are here.”

Gabbalaba
Thoughtful, action packed, and dripping with feminist enabling leads. Totally unexpected side-characters also step into the light. Ending felt rushed, and change of POV felt like a first-person restriction. Pre-climax was confusing with too many planning details. I loved the women as allies theme.
Vroom Vroom
Great story. There are some heavy chapters to get through so if rape, sex trafficking or abuse are triggers for you then skip this book!!! If they aren't triggers for you then I highly recommend this book. I agree with other comments that the incomplete sentences were annoying.
