The Burning
I looked up at him, my vision blurred with tears.
"Why? Why do we keep going? What’s the point? I'm just so damn tired!!"
Ben’s eyes softened, and for a moment, I saw something in him that I hadn’t seen before.
"Because we’re still here Maya," he said quietly. "And as long as we’re still here, there’s still hope. For us. For the people we care about. For whatever’s left of this world."
I stared at him, my heart aching with the weight of his words. Hope. It seemed like such a fragile thing, so easily broken, so easily lost. But maybe, just maybe, it was all we had left.
