I sat down on the couch and placed the girls on one lap and Caleb on the other lap. "I think I know what you can do, Daddy. Mommy has a book that she loves reading to us. Maybe you can read it to her," Cassie commented. I thought of her idea, and it sounded perfect. Sienna was an author, and if there was anything that she loved more than anything; except the twins, her grandma, and me, it was a book. Her favorite book. "Yes, Cassie, that's an amazing idea. You will tell me the name of the book, and I will get it," I answered enthusiastically.

This was it. Beside me, Cassy stared out the window, her hand resting absently on her stomach. She'd been quieter than usual lately, her thoughts drifting somewhere I couldn't follow. As much as I wanted her to share my enthusiasm, I understood why she didn't. Being the Moon Goddess, an Alpha, and now a mother. Her world was heavier than mine. So I bit down my joy, keeping it tempered. But it wasn't easy. The moment we stepped out of the car, Cassy's mother wasted no time. She swooped in, collecting Cassy and Vivi along with the other women. "Come on, girls," she said, ushering them toward the healers.

Cassie asks. They go over to the bookcases, and they all started looking for books that could have something on the relic but there was just a slight mention of it or a paragraph. But no pictures or anything that matches anything in the publications. Cassie goes back over to the bookcase and notices a book up high. She grabs the ladder and goes up it to get the book. "Cassie Be careful, you could fall." Nathan said going over to her helping her down. "Let me look in this book," Cassie said.

Cassie wakes up on Saturday morning too early. She rolls on her bed left and right because of the excitement of her upcoming secret date with Mathias. After a while, she hears the sound of a text message notification on her phone. The name on its screen she sees makes her heart skip a beat. DM: Morning, baby girl. Slept well? Cassie reads the message and her fingers rapidly tap on the screen. Yes, daddy. You?… Before sending it, she changes her mind and deletes the magical word to prevent it losing value.

“That’s all I want.” The next morning, Grace presented Cassie with a bound book, handmade, messy, magical. Inside were ten beginnings. Each story ended with the same phrase: “And she didn’t know how the story would end, but she wasn’t afraid anymore.” Cassie held the book to her chest. “You’ve written the truest thing I’ve ever read,” she said. Grace beamed. Later, while Damon was watering the garden and Cassie watched the girls chase the breeze, she whispered a simple prayer into the wind:

It was getting dark and from the looks of it, we were all going to be up late today. After a while Cassie stood up and headed to the door. "Where are you going?" asked Jasper. "No where. I just need to get some fresh air. I don't know if it's just me, but my wolf feels a little restless." Cassie walked out and we all continued to pour through the mountain of books that were on the table. Kaya had gone up to her room to get ready for the evening and Lorena was reading alone. Suddenly, Cassie ran back inside, her face was pale with terror.

Tristan said, voice brimming with excitement. Genevieve frowned slightly. “Your mother? Who are you talking about?” The young woman beside her mirrored the confusion, but Cassie rose, walking toward them with effortless composure. “Hi, I’m Cassie,” she said smoothly, the words rolling off her tongue as if rehearsed countless times. “Frank’s girlfriend, and Tristan’s legal mother.” The introduction hung in the air, precise and deliberate. Tristan’s face lit up with approval. “Grandma, you should know her. She’s amazing.”

At least this was what in her thoughts that was going for a long time now as time passes by. Tears formed at the women eyes as her introduction line up and on beside her when a pop up and big characters appeared. When her introduction was invisible next to her, a pool of water appeared at the Sotiras and Heroes feet while Cassie kept crying but still stubbornly look at Kate, wanting to get an answer for her question that desperately needed a response immediately to calm her agitated heart right now. Claire had written a book. And we? We were finally creating our tale. Cassie rolled over, nestling her soft body into me. "Ready for the next chapter?" I smiled at her. "Always."
