He looks good. “Eva this is Darryl.” Micah waves to him. “And Darryl, this is Eva…my wife.” The man’s smile drops, replaced with a frown and brows pinched together. “Wife?” Micah nods. He looks at me, then Micah then back at me. “You’re married to Stefan Hart’s wife?”

I replied. “Your housekeeper is quite…young!” Mike whistled, and I glared at him. “Don't you even think of it!” I warned sternly, and he snarled. Mike is a notorious playboy, which led to his divorce, and unlike me, who got served papers, Mike's wife did him the honour. “What are you saying? Is she not legal? If not, then I don't see a reason for the sour face except…” he slurred with a low voice, and I avoided his eyes.

"When is the wedding?" Matthew asked, being interested. He was with Mike every day since he came back in the country after his trip to field hospital in a refugee camp but knew nothing about it.

His eyes land on our intertwined hands, and his smile falters. He sees it too. We're all silent for a while, looking at each other. It feels like the room is holding its breath, waiting for someone to break the silence. “Dad?” Mike finally speaks. “Wait a minute… You two got married?” I don't get a chance to answer because Mabel screams, “What the fuck!”

I want to hear everything, I mean the tea pouring out of the cup. How you met, what happened, have you guys started dating—” I groaned, rubbing my temples. “Trina, please. Take it slow.” Her smile widened. “That means there’s something to tell.” I exhaled. “For your information, we’re not dating. He’s the son of someone related to my dad’s business, but… sadly, not just any kind of related.” My voice dropped slightly. “I’m going to marry Mike soon.”

“Marriage isn’t really on my radar right now. But who knows? Mike Jordan could wake up one day and just… do it. Get hitched in six months or something.” Six months? That’s what the crazy woman from earlier said... the one who came in as my plus-one. She claimed her wedding was in six months. I glance at Mike, then back toward where Olivia disappeared. No. It’s ridiculous. Can’t be Mike, right? “Anyway,” Mike says, “what about you? You married?” He points at Ace. Ace gives one of his signature slow grins. “I am, actually. Lovely wife. Career woman. Couldn’t make it here, sadly… too much on her plate.”

Attractive face. “I’m Mike.” He offers his hand. I shake it. “Nice to meet you, Mike. I’m Liana.” Within minutes, Jenny’s deep in conversation with the other guy. Laughing. Flirting. Me? I’m contributing about one word per response. Which, to Mike’s credit, doesn’t seem to discourage him. “So…” He leans an elbow against the bar. “Want to go back to my place after this?” Well. That escalated quickly. “Oh, actually… I thought you’d noticed.” I lift my left hand and wiggle my fingers slightly, letting the ring catch the light. “I’m married.”

He asked her with a smile. "Yeah." She shook her head. "But, why are they separated now?" Mike stroked his chin for a while, he had a saddened expression. "That I don't know, I was on a collaboration in England and when I was back, they were divorced, and even when I tried to talk to him, he didn't reveal!" He said slowly. The waiter came and dropped the tray of expensive wine on the glass, she motioned to Mike and Natasha, before she bowed.

When we finally reached Adam's office, the door opened, and there he was—his friend, a friendly face with a warm smile typical of a doctor. “Mike! It’s so good to see you!” Adam said as he extended his hand. Mike shook it firmly and then, with a slightly awkward glance in my direction, introduced me. “Adam, this is Emily. She’s my wife.” Adam’s eyes widened, his surprise barely concealed. “Oh, wow. I didn’t know you two were already... Well, I didn’t know. Congratulations, I guess?” Mike chuckled, a little nervously. “Well, it’s quite a secret, so I hope you’ll keep it a secret too. Not many people know yet anyway. There are a few reasons for that, but I can’t explain them right now.”
