It was real, and it was spreading throughout her. She wondered how she was supposed to be with him at her house. Was asking him in the right thing to do? She had so many questions about everything that should be normal it was frustrating. She had never really wanted a friend. She didn’t see the need. Instead, she was fine with having nothing more to offer someone than a friendly hello. Now it seemed like she had been missing out her entire life. But she had the start to a friendship. She didn’t mind that he knew things she didn’t. He didn’t seem to mind her asking those questions. Though sometimes he had to think about the answers before he said something back to her.

I was going to focus on the moment, not what society said I needed to feel or do. 'Look at you smiling without even trying!' Robyn teased, her tail wagging from behind her. I huffed, ignoring her because I did not wish to discuss how easy it had been for me to smile for the past two days, then tapped on the message. M- 'It's been two days since I last saw you. I miss you. There's no two ways about it. I miss you so damn much! And guess what? I found the perfect poem to describe that.’

Needy screamed, pointing her finger at me like a gun. I swallowed hard and felt my tears burn even hotter. Needy stormed off and out of the room, screaming as she moved down the hall. I wanted to collapse on the floor. I couldn’t believe all of that had just happened. I couldn’t believe I had lost one of my best friends. I couldn’t think of anything that would fix it or get her to forgive me. “Well, that was intense,” my mother finally said with awkward laughter.
