He let out the friendliest of smiles, making Anderson very uncomfortable. Anderson stared back and forth between Suit and the scroll. His mind was racing. The contract sounded simple enough. Straightforward, but he did not understand. ‘What did he mean by survive the stories? Did he not say I was going to tell a story? What does survive the story mean?’ Question after question popped up into his head. He could not help himself. He had no idea exactly what it meant, but one thing was for certain; He would not move forward if he did nothing but constantly question the situation

After the events of yesterday, I needed a break from everything, and this place just has that weird ability to make me calm down. After Scarlet fell asleep last night, only Crimson and I were left. He told me he had something to ask me, and somehow, he found out about my illness. I tried to play it cool by asking him what he's talking about, but he quickly dropped the topic. The question came out of nowhere, and I have no idea how he managed to find out. I've never told anyone about it, and there's no chance of him overhearing it from anybody else. While I was thinking to myself, Alabaster placed a drink in front of me. It didn't look like coffee, and it definitely didn't smell like it eithe

“Or is it something else?” “Do you remember Misty talking about the war and how she went through that portal?” “Of course. That’s a famous family story. What about it?” “Well, the description of the people she saw–the women?” “A shifter and what our beloved ancient Arthur believes is a mythical beast called a… vampire?” She arches her brows. “Yeah.” “Yeah… what?” “They’re not so mythical.” Her spine straightens vertebra by vertebra. “Tell me more.”

Before I could blink, I dropped to my knees shifting back to myself. I could feel a sharp prickle at my side. Whatever was laced with that small knife was spreading rapidly throughout my blood like wildfire. I tried to stand, but staggered and slumped back to the floor. My body contracted. My blood felt like it was clotting. My lungs felt clamped, unable to expand. The realisation hit me like lightning. My body burned with an unnatural fever. I had been poisoned with mistletoe—a deadly poison meant to kill or neutralize a wolf based on the amount received.

About two hundred years ago, I went to a party as a maiden to sexually satisfy the men that went to war, I was forced by my father because he wanted the money they paid to those who slept with the men. At that period I was in love with Edward, I didn’t want some stupid party and my father’s selfishness to spoil what we had, so I found a way around it. I found a man that looked like the ri

he said and chuckled at his own joke. Hashar jerked against the chains angrily but nothing happened. “Oh, rabid dog,” he said to Hashar. “Keep it quiet,” he smiled. “Let me tell you a story, it will make your day I promise.” “You see, mistletoe was once a harmless plant and no one took much notice of it. Then it came to pass that the goddess of beauty and love and all things fine gave birth to a boy as beautiful as him. And you know mothers right, she wanted to protect the boy at all cost,” he paused and glanced at the three dangling from the chains.

His voice trembled, and I could tell he was worried. “It’s mistletoe.” I heard Ivan’s quiet voice. Mistletoe was deadly to werewolves and lycans. It couldn’t do anything on the surface, but it reacted violently when mixed with our blood. It would cause internal bleeding and almost certain death. I felt tired, but I was fine. I felt my body healing normally ... actually, I was healing at an unnatural rate. Perhaps the peak of the moon was helping, accelerating my healing. After a few quiet moments, I felt like it was safe enough to shift.
