CHASING MONSTERS
Personal space meant nothing to corpses.
I muttered up at the ceiling, “Xavier, if you’re coming, make it fast. I’m running out of charming things to say.”
The dead closest to me growled, an ugly, grinding noise.
I kicked its shin for good measure.
“What? Fight me properly or shut up.”
It raised its clawed hand to swipe and froze.
Literally froze.
Crystals spread over its skin, jagged and sharp, locking joints, sealing air. Frost crackled across its torso in a burst of glittering white until the whole thing was a frozen statue.
