Something I couldn’t quite name.
“Alright,” Smith’s voice broke through my thoughts, gentle but firm. “Let’s not lose focus.”
I blinked quickly, forcing myself back into the room.
“Sorry,” I muttered, adjusting my posture.
“Don’t be,” he said with a small smile. “It happens. Especially here.”
Especially here.
I didn’t ask what he meant by that.
Instead, I fixed my eyes on the piano, on the keys, on anything that wasn’t the door Drake had just walked through.
