With a light press of a button, I started vomiting violently, my whole body shaking. Ophelia looked pleased with herself. "See what I can do now? I can make you throw up whenever I want. You killed our dad, and then you pretended to be some genius to steal Mom's love. This is exactly what you deserve."

We were drenched, shivering, and surrounded by a curtain of grey mist and orange fire. "Julian, your hand," I gasped, seeing the blood soaking through his sleeve. He’d caught a piece of shrapnel during the lab escape. "It doesn't matter," he rasped, pressing me back against the warm steel of the stack. He looked at me, and for a second, the scientist disappeared. The "Monster" disappeared. There was only a man who had finally realized what he was fighting for. "Elara, if the uplink doesn't catch... if the 'Sequence 6' doesn't broadcast..."

The ley lines beneath the university pulsed in recognition. Kael shifted back to human form, chest heaving, wounds already healing. Naked, bloodied, magnificent. “You two… still sane?” Damien gave a sharp nod, fangs retracted. “For now.” Serena raised her hands, sending a wave of protective violet energy that pushed back a wave of approaching infected. “We can’t stay here. They’re multiplying too fast.” A fresh horde poured from the freshman dorms — dozens of students, some still wearing pajamas, now snarling monsters. Among them, Kael spotted his little cousin, a bright-eyed freshman who had looked up to him like a hero.

“Of course. What do you want to eat for lunch? Tell me.” Celia smiled brightly. “As long as I’m with you, I’ll eat anything!” After saying that, she turned and waved at Felix in the car, then carried her little backpack and walked toward the kindergarten entrance. After a few steps, she suddenly stopped. She thought she saw Cordelia. She must have been mistaken. Why would Cordelia be here? Celia’s face instantly grew tense. Without thinking too much, she almost ran through the kindergarten gates. She did not want to run into Cordelia at a time like this.

"We are all friends here. Do you know who would do such a thing? Who possesses the ability to cast such a complex spell?" Celia looked between the two of us. Her eyes were filled with pleading. She didn't want to expose who the magic belongs to. "I need to know, Celia," I pleaded. "Before I die... before it sucks me dry and moves on to Zara...." Celia sighed, dropped her shoulders in defeat, and looked at her hands. The gesture reminded me of Zara when she was nervous. Celia inhaled deeply before she lifted her gaze to find mine. "Of course I do," she muttered, embarrassed. "I will recognize the signature anywhere, even in death...."
