The giant black wolf with a white stripe on his chest bounded towards me, yipping. He sailed over me at the last moment, turning in play. My wolf engaged and began to run towards the back of the property. A run was exactly what I needed. The wicked witch was dead by her own dark magic. Dark magic that tried to kill me. His eyes glowed a blinding red, the color of blood and fire, as he surveyed his kill with grim satisfaction. My heart slammed against my ribs as I realized this was no ordinary wolf. This was the monster from the North—the creature that had haunted the nightmares of so many.
