Xithara's POV I had been imprisoned for a week and during this time, I had been put through hell. The guard would come to whip and torture me everyday. Keith did the worst thing possible, he decided I didn't deserve to have a wolf so he took her away. They performed a ritual on me that not only hurt like hell but took away my wolf permanently so I wouldn't be able to rebel against their torture since I had been trained in combat.

During the full moon, shifters must find time to change and hunt or they lose control of the wolf. Shifters could be the "wolf" or a hybrid of human and wolf, which we call "werewolf." But a shifter-wolf could never be confused with a natural one. A shifter-wolf was the size of a full-grown human. A shifter-wolf didn't have the same canine appearance. You could easily recognize the human characteristics in the face of a wolf. Tyler had a softer, rounder face than Jason and Paul did. Jason's eyes were wide and spaced further apart, and Paul's lips curled upward—I had never seen a canine's lips do that!

Other wolves may take years to fully bond and shift. Most before they turn 16, some by 18, and a rare few after then.
