POV: Lena The night air smelled of metal and smoke, thick with tension. Lena’s boots scraped over the wet concrete of the compound’s perimeter as she moved, senses screaming. Every shadow seemed alive, every whisper of wind a warning. Her wolf coiled beneath her skin, restless, ready. She had barely caught her breath from the fight earlier. Her muscles ached, pulse still hammering, adrenaline cutting through every nerve. But she didn’t stop. She never stopped. Not for fear, not for exhaustion. Not even for the memory of her brother burning behind her eyes.

“I am the person who writes down the bill.” The pull snapped. The pool shuddered into stillness, its surface smoothing with the offended dignity of a creature who has been told it will not be fed tonight. The red in it dimmed to a stain instead of a flame. “You’ve wounded it,” Maera said, and if there was triumph in her voice it was the quiet sort that prefers accuracy to celebration. “When the moon lifts, it will not redden fully. It will mouth at the tide and not drink.” “It’s not the same as ending it,” Evelyn said, exhausted down to the bones that conversations live in.

Morning sunlight streamed through the grand windows of Moonspire’s dining hall, painting golden streaks across the polished marble floor. The air was filled with the warm aroma of baked bread, roasted meat, and the faint sweetness of honeyed fruit.

Avira mocked and pretended to be blowing her nails. I fought back the tears that threatened to spill and then ran into my room. I used to be Luna's only friend, and I wanted it to remain that way. I didn't think I wanted to do all these anymore but if I don't act now, what else will I do? This was my only chance to act and I believe the moon goddess gave me this opportunity.

Go on,” he tells me, his voice firm, then he dumps the contents of the second tin right on top of the first. “All of it, or I won’t get you a bunny rabbit.” ** The moon rises, a huge, perfect disc of silver light, bathing the entire glade in an ethereal glow. I stand completely naked, the cool air raising goosebumps on my skin, and my mate watches me from the shadows.

"You think you’re here to exploit a weakness. But look closer, Kael." I didn't reach for my blade. I reached for the air itself. I called upon the Moonveil energy—the deep, cold, crystalline power that had been dormant for three millennia. I pulled it from the earth, from the river, and from the very marrow of my bones. The bridge exploded with white, silver light. It wasn't an explosion of heat; it was an explosion of presence. The air grew heavy, thick with the scent of ozone and ancient sovereignty. The silver light wreathed my body, lifting my hair, turning my eyes into twin pools of liquid mercury.

He smirks. “Now, chain her properly.” His minions chained me to the floor, where I could barely move. Armond stood in the center of the stage. He raised his arms. “The blood moon rises tonight, and with her blood we will reign supreme.” He lifts an ornate goblet. The hall erupts in cheers. My anger boils over.

Everyone stood around the outside of the circle holding their candles. Magenta stepped into the center of the circle. “Members of the Moon Shadow Pack, we are gathered tonight before the Moon Goddess, Selene, to humbly ask that Princess Brenna Sutton join the ranks of Luna among us.” Then she turned toward the moon and raised her arms. “Oh, Moon Goddess, I present to you Princess Brenna Sutton as a Potential Luna.” Magenta took the candle from me and stepped away. I took my place in the center of the stones, looked up at the moon, and lifted my hands. “Oh great Moon Goddess, I, Princess Brenna Sutton, humbly present myself to become your next Luna, if you so choose.”

Then he extends his left arm through the bars for me to hold and bring to my lips, I hover above the inside of his forearm, waiting for our lunas signal, she nods and we say the final words together. "With this mark, I ..." But before either one of us can finish the final vow, a bright light pours through the tiny window, somehow filling the room, we all freeze, bathing in it. "A blue moon," Kay whispers in awe, staring into it and then back at us. "A blue moon bond!" She gasps, "Oh, thank you goddess," she praises. "Luna? What's happening?" I ask, unmoving.

Moon kept his eyes on this girl all this time. "Lucas, I, and Doll will go to our respective classes to study." Moon tapped on Lucas' left shoulder. He smiled and started walking away. "Do you choose one of yours?" Doll stopped him and faced Lucas. Lucas just pouted as a response. What classes should they take? They didn't speak a word after they left the bus. Lucas has no clue but has a good grasp about what class Moon will pick. If he remembered it right, Mister Vacio decided to let Moon study for free at Aspho High because of the skill he saw his cousin possessed. Mister Vacio knew it was quite one of the rarest power in the city but Moon didn't have the guts to use it.
