The dread of tomorrow and the pull I felt tonight was simply too much for me. The trees overhead left a large circle opening, I could feel the moon on my skin and it was an almost constant battle to keep Nya from coming out. “I’m sorry, I’m not trying to” she whined “I know, it’s the damned blood moon, we just need to relax” I told her, knowing I couldn’t take my own advice anyways. I closed my eyes and let my head rest back, the moonlight coating my face, I focused on my breathing and trying to keep Nya in. The sounds of the forest were soothing enough that I dozed off briefly.

My father interrupted her. "Let him be." At that, my mom went quiet. My father was neither violent nor loud, but nobody ever questioned his authority, not even his Luna. One that you too might experience in a few years if you’re lucky.” I shifted on the bed and suppressed the growing anger towards my mother.
