"What?" Bailey stared at Beckett, her eyes widening. "Your Goddess is a living being?!" Her voice raised in pitch, and her face became a mask of incredulousness.
"Of course she exists." Beckett laughed. "She wouldn't be a very good deity if she maintained her distance, would she? She is the Mother of All, and like any good mother, she meddles in the affairs of her children. That includes you, little Halfling."
"I do have a name." Bailey growled, "All of you seem to delight in calling me by what I am, not who."
