In one form or another. I started to disagree, but we were cut off by a loud banging on the door. Marcus returned with a somber countenance. "We discovered another gadget, Alpha. The Luna's quarters were where this one was. "The quarters of Luna?" Confused, I repeated. Dominick's jaw tensed, but he remained silent. After hesitating, Marcus said, "There's more, Alpha. Earlier today, Anabella was seen conversing with one of the chefs, according to the east wing guards.

Ean turned to look at her, then roared, "She's not dead! How could she be dead? It's impossible!" The doctor he brought stepped forward, shook his head, and said, "Mr. Smith, I'm sorry, but she's gone. There are no vital signs." At that moment, the gatekeeper hurriedly ran over, "Mr. Smith, the surveillance footage was destroyed, but our people have been guarding the main entrance the whole time!" Ean was dumbfounded. If that was the case, it meant that I had entered an operational freezer that day! He roared at everyone around him, "You call this watching over her?"

I slipped through the blind spot and scaled the wall, the kind of move my body now executed with muscle memory. Third floor. Corner window. Unlocked, because men like Richter always believed no one would dare break into their perfect little worlds. His apartment was spotless. Not a cushion out of place, not a dish in the sink. The air even smelled sterile, like bleach and metal. The fridge clicked softly when I opened it. Inside: meal-prepped containers lined like soldiers, perfectly labeled by date. Theodore had left before I arrived, and it had hurt me a bit. Maybe I was the only one thinking about him. It wasn’t the mate bond or anything. It was all in my head, and I had made a fool of myself going to look for him in the mall and getting worked up. “Iris, you haven’t touched your food!” It was Gertrude. She came up from behind, carrying a bowl in her hand. Her words got my parent's attention.

"Eve, can you stop being so stubborn? I've apologized, and I'm willing to pay. What more do you want? Will you not let it rest until I'm in prison?" David nodded. "Exactly. The dead can't come back to life. You need to move on. 20 grand is a lot. A life isn't even worth that much in rural areas."

A syringe on the floor. Alarm spears through me, terror gripping me. Karla's attention turns to the television abruptly. I am astounded to see Ramon's picture on the screen. MAN SEVERELY BLEEDS AFTER GETTING STABBED IN A CELL. POLICE INVESTIGATING WHAT REALLY OCCURRED. ÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷
