Movies From Books Novels & Stories

"What do you think about the movie" Flashback "I'll never run out. So its After you picked" I said dropping the blankets "Yup. The name sounds interesting" "Yeah because the book is" "After has a book" "More like the book has a movie" "How" "Its a book on Wattpad and that book is a bomb" "Really" "One of my absolute best" I said and smiled. End of flashback "Its a really good one. One of my absolute best even" I said summing up every other thing I would have said.

I walk towards my mini-library I have in my room and I bring out a book, it's been a while since I got lost in one of these fantasies. I take one out, I use my hand to trace the Braille, this was my favourite book. The Princess Diaries, I remember always reading this, I made my father read it to me when I was little as well, I remember Pretty Little Liars, I overheard someone talking about it, and when I joined in their convo, they were talking about the movie, I only read the book, funny how most people don't know that most of these movies and series were based on books, and yes these books are re written in Braille so blind people like myself can also read it.

"About what?" "About whether some things should stay in books, or if they should become movies too." Emma's eyes lit up. "Like Frozen? That was a movie AND a book!" If only it were that simple. I finally clicked the email open. The message was from Maria Chen, a director whose work I'd admired for years. She'd made powerful films about women overcoming impossible odds, stories that didn't shy away from darkness but always found the light. Her last film had won three Oscars.

A woman brings in the two plates of tiramisu then removes our dinner plates. We spend dessert talking about favorite movies. Milos hasn’t watched many of the newer ones—his mother was a lover of classic movies she watched to learn English. He shrugged, he preferred to read with what little free time he had. I find out he reads mysteries and thrillers—several I have as well. We even share a favorite author who has had several of his books made into movies. “Oh, I really want to watch the latest. I’m dying to see how they turned it into a movie. Usually the movie ruins the book for me, but somehow the movies of his books have been really good.”

My mind needs to just clear out for a moment so I can just relax. A few minutes later Ashlynn comes back with a large bowl of popcorn and two bottles of water. She smiles at me before she gets herself settled in my bed, setting the large bowl on her lap. She grabs the remote and presses play on the movie, which was Pride and Prejudice. I read the book back in high school but I don't remember it at all. "Do you like this movie?" I ask her. "I love the book, it's one of my favorites. I have never seen the movie though," she tells me. "I didn't even know there was a movie until earlier today actually."

She replied, and I cocked my head slightly to the side, prompting her to explain after a sigh, "Books that have been adapted into a movie. I enjoy reading how much better the book is compared to the film." "That seems only natural for the Ultimate Film Critic. Are there any adaptation movies that you like more than the book?" I questioned, reading through her small stack of books. All books I've either read or heard of. Mia simply shrugged, slowly putting her book down. "None that I can instantly remember. They all usually drop or change the best parts of the book, so I prefer the original almost every time." She replied, sounding less like a bitch and more like an actual critic.

“It is preferable to read the book than to watch the film. It truly disappointed me.” Simon chuckled. “The movie is nice,” he said. “The sequence of the story is identical to what is written in the books.” “I beg to disagree. The scene is very different from what is written in the book.” Luna’s complaint. “They cut the best scene in the book. They didn’t do justice to the beautiful story. They’ve screwed up the story.” Simon opened the back seat and dropped off what they had purchased. “Of course, what do you expect? They put exactly what’s in the book,” said Simon

He said, not sounding convinced. I turned my back away from him to face his bedside table and grabbed a book. I read the title, ‘See You In My Dreams’. Oh, I know this! “Hey, I’ve watched a movie version of this book! I didn’t know it was based on a novel. It was a great murder mystery film. And the plot twist was amazing! Did you know that the main character—”

Ivana must have misunderstood his reaction because she cleared her throat and sat straighter. “I mean, it would make a great movie or series, sir. Most movies aren’t exactly the same as the books, but if we keep the main essence, it would be no problem,” his new temp explained. Calvin nodded. He liked the idea. He had to be sure he was doing it for the right person. “If it’s a book, a very popular book, the book world will go mad for it.” “A popular book?” he interrupted.

The film had the same name as my book. I had wanted it to be a single film, then the sequel would also be another single film, but seeing the scenes in the book, it was best I turned into a movie series, so I would not chop off some parts. I decided that book one would be one season why book two would be the other season. Today was the last day of filming for book one and I couldn't be more happier. It's been five months of exhausting yet unforgettable experience. This was basically me sharing my real life experience with the whole world on a large screen.
