Movies That Are Also Books Novels & Stories

I walk towards my mini-library I have in my room and I bring out a book, it's been a while since I got lost in one of these fantasies. I take one out, I use my hand to trace the Braille, this was my favourite book. The Princess Diaries, I remember always reading this, I made my father read it to me when I was little as well, I remember Pretty Little Liars, I overheard someone talking about it, and when I joined in their convo, they were talking about the movie, I only read the book, funny how most people don't know that most of these movies and series were based on books, and yes these books are re written in Braille so blind people like myself can also read it.

I figure if the book is any good, they’ll make a movie of it, so I might as well see it then and only waste two hours of my life, as opposed to wasting all the extra time it takes to read a book. Sorry. Obviously if you’re reading this, then we don’t really see eye-to-eye on this matter. Then again, unless you happen to be a socially inept serial killer who kills for profit and runs screaming away from any kind of real human interactive relationship, then there probably isn’t too much that we see eye-to-eye on, so let’s just agree to disagree.

“I don't really have one. I haven't watched many. I don't think I have time for that. I'm a boring person.” My arm tightens around the wheel. “You're not boring.” She smiles slightly. “And what is your favorite kind, Mr. Bran?” “Old films mostly. Stories with real stakes. Thrillers, suspense, survival stories with unexpected twists.” “Sounds cool,” she smiles. “That's the kind of books I read.” “Guess we have the same taste.” She grins this time, and it makes her look even more beautiful. After a while, I pull up in front of the cinema. Raina watches as I order popcorn and drinks. Her cheeks stay red the entire time.

“The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, Inception, Interstellar, The Shawshank Redemption…” His response came back almost immediately: “Wait. THE NOTEBOOK? And Inception? And Interstellar? Okay we’re about to become best friends because those are literally my top movies.” And just like that, we had something to talk about. For the next two weeks, we texted about movies constantly. Not just surface-level stuff either. We’d analyze scenes, debate endings, talk about why certain movies made us feel things. He’d send me clips from his favorite moments. I’d send him recommendations. It felt easy. Natural. Like we’d been doing this forever.

“Yeah. It is all I could do when I was with Willow. Novels- they are like stories, aren't they?” “Yeah. So a movie is basically a physical demonstration of stories. Instead of them being written they are shown. So we don't have to imagine the actions, we can see it for ourselves.” “Oh, wow. That is amazing!” she says in awe. “But, are you saying everyone would gather to watch it? That seems uncomfortable. Why would they do that?”

“But both are Nintendo, so the vibe here is still good” “How about books? Do you have a favorite?”, she asks. “Grapes of Wrath”, I answer and her shock over my answer doesn’t go unnoticed. “You”? “The Great Gatsby”, she says. Wow, that’s depressing! “So tragic”, I told her. “Speak for yourself”, she says, and we both laugh again because both books are probably equally depressing! “Favorite movie?” I asked her. “Love, Actually”, she says sadly. “Serious? Isn’t that a little before your time?” I said.
