She was still watching the women on the floor, unbothered by the chaos, her expression eerily composed.
“Yes,” Jeff added quickly, rubbing his own temple as if memory might surface through force.
“It’s not normal. I can’t remember anything either. We were woken up by their screams—by them claiming we beat them.”
“You’re too drunk to remember what you did!” one woman cried, her tears relentless.
“Aren’t these bruises enough evidence?”
“We’re not whores to be treated like this,” the other woman whimpered, her voice shaking.
