We can’t mourn what tried to destroy us. As I shut the incinerator, a soft hum starts in the distance. Not loud—just annoying. “Where the hell is that coming from?” Drake mutters. “No idea, but it’s obnoxious,” Layla growls. We lift a box lid—empty. Just as we’re about to move on, Drake points to the sky. “There.” A black drone hovers high above. I draw my gun, aim, and shoot. One bullet. It drops. “Nice shot,” Drake says. “Let’s hope it wasn’t a kid’s toy.”

'They're turning on each other,' I whispered, tears stinging my eyes, emotions crashing—betrayal from my own, love for this man beneath me, fear of losing control. Drake thrust up weakly, locked as we were, his face etched with desperation. 'Stay with me, Luna. Don't let it take you.' His plea hit deep, the bond flooding me with his warmth, his scars—those runes—glowing faintly under the fungi light, protecting us both. I rode harder, reverse and relentless, my breasts bouncing, nipples hard peaks in the cool air. Flashbacks blurred: Mira killing my family not just for power, but to hide her own ties, whispers of blood shared in the dark.

Author's POV : "Doctor, Doctor", shouting Smaran runs inside the hospital carrying blood-soaked Niyati in his arms. After a minute, some ward boys come running to him with a stretcher. A Doctor also comes there and starts checking her pulse. He lays her on the stretcher. "Please doctor start the treatment of my wife as soon as possible. She has had an accident with a car", He pleads in a trembling voice, terrified and afraid of losing her.

he muffles and another gasps escapes from their mouths followed by low sobs. "No, my... brother...can't be dead" Julia sobs. "Tell us this is some prank and...." "My son isn't dead. He's alright and he'll come walking through that door very soon, you'll see" Kylie's mom cut Kylie mid-sentence. It was too painful to believe her son was dead. "Drake was murdered last night at Anna's apartment and Anna has gone missing and....." Jay's words went hanging as he saw Drake's mom collapsed on the chair. "Mom, mom" Kylie and Julia cries in panic shaking their mom's unconscious body. Jay stood up and picked up her hand.

“I’d rather die than be tied to you. I’d rather die than have you touch me. I’d rather DIE than stay here with you……KILL ME!!!!” I’m breathing heavily now, and tears have left my eyes. Laslo says nothing, and his eyes glaze over. He focuses back on me, and the front door opens. “Sir, we have footage of a drone we saw flying around.” “They found us. It’s time to move.” I can feel my heartbeat increase. Who sent the drone? I’d imagine it was Cory. If they move us, how will I get back to my mate? Laslo starts to breathe, and his hand gets tighter around my neck. I start to claw at his hand to get him to release me then darkness takes over.

Rainbow said gloomily. My blood went cold instantly. “What the fuck did you say?” I asked him, my voice thick with shock and rage. Without waiting for Rainbow, I hurried to the shark he talked about. There were flies, and even before I got really close, the stench was already horrifying. Still, I went in, and the sight that greeted me made me stop in my tracks. I had witnessed a lot of murders, but this had to be the cruelest I had ever seen. I froze in shock and agony. I almost didn’t believe it was Drane, but it was definitely him, murdered in cold blood and dumped to rot away like a pile of shit.

I ask, still not looking. “Not well,” he says, voice strained. “But, yeah. I do. They were good kids.” Tears prick at my eyes. What sort of monsters would do such a thing? Come in here and murder innocent people? “Brynn,” I gasp. Brynn’s dorm is on this floor. Like almost everyone else, she must have been sleeping when the Silver Hunters attacked. Did she manage to get away? Is she even still alive? “I need to find Brynn,” I gasp.

It was a desperate gamble, a last-ditch effort to gather crucial information before retreating. The energy pulses, unleashed by the drone, caused the vortex to writhe in response. A wave of raw psychic energy slammed against them, momentarily overwhelming the drone's shielding. Anya, flooded with fragmented images of consumed worlds and insatiable hunger, glimpsed the true horror of the entity. Then, with a surge of willpower, they activated the drone's self-destruct sequence. A blinding flash engulfed the area,momentarily pushing back the darkness. In that fleeting moment, they managed to transmit a data packet containing their horrifying discovery.

She gave short whimpers, molding her body to mine. I pressed my face into her fur, whispering to her. “Hunter will find us, Kira. Hunter and Blaze.” I hoped he would. Trying again to mind link with him, a blinding pain shot through my brain. “Where are you hiding, little Mouse?” I heard a familiar voice calling out to me. “Do you think I won’t find you?” I shook my head, clapping my hands over my ears. It could not be Drake. He was dead. I killed him myself, had his beating heart in my hands. This was not real. Kira whined next to me.
