Chapter Three: Instant Regret

Onyx and I stared at each other. The woman had just left and all hell broke loose. We just rejected our mate because we liked guys.

“I’m not kidding Meadra. They didn’t even let us speak before they REJECTED her! We are leaving tomorrow and I never want to come back here again. If this kills her I will never forgive them for this!” The man named Dravo stated, then walked out, never looking back.

“Dragon Kings, I really hope you know that you have damned a very special wolf to the Void,” Meadra told us and walked out with her guards close on her heels.

We both looked at the last person from their little group. A petite blond they called Max.

“No disrespect to your Majesties, but you just had the best person walk into your life as a mate and you threw her away. I hope you regret everything you just did. I hope it ruins you. Because that is what you just did to the fifth strongest woman in our pack. If she goes to the Void, I will pray for everyone that releases her anger or vengeance, because they are going to need it.” Max said and walked out.

“Onyx? Did we do the right thing?” I asked my brother.

“Pyrite, we both like men. I’ve never been interested in a woman and neither have you. We agreed it was the right thing to do,” Onyx said.

My dragon was roaring in my mind, he wanted the little she-wolf, and the truth was, I wanted her too.

“Onyx, my dragon and I wanted her right when she walked through those golden doors,” I told him softly.

“My dragon and I did too, but the fact of the matter is that we have always liked men,” he replied back.

“Onyx, we made a mistake. She is our true mate and the only one we get. No other can become our Queen. When she looked at us when she first came into the room, her one blue and one green eye sparkled with happiness, but when we rejected her they dulled. I almost shifted when she walked out,” I said.

“Gavon! Call the High Priestess back and the others. They can wear whatever they want. I don’t care, just tell them to come down!” Onyx yelled out the door.

Gavon sprang up and bolted up the stairs. When they returned, our mate was not with them.

“Why did our mate not come too?” I asked.

“She left.” Meadra said.

I looked at Onyx, worry filled my gaze. We needed to find our mate.

“Do you know where she went?” Onyx asked as he ran his fingers through his long black hair.

“Your Majesties, with all due respect, I will not be giving you that information. In the morning Maxia and I will be going to see her and we will ask if she wants to see you. If she doesn’t then we will leave her be.” Meadra’s mate Dravo, said.

“Please tell her that we would like to talk to her,” I said and walked away.

Pyrite and I didn’t really talk that night or the next morning until Meadra’s group came into our office, and again, our mate was not with them.  I was getting really pissed that she thought it was okay to ignore the King's invitation.

“Where is our mate?!” I snapped. I was losing control and everyone knew it.

“She declined your invitation and has stated that she is ready to leave. We will meet her at her hotel on our way out of your kingdom.” Maxia told us with a sad look upon her face.

“She has started the Void process and has removed her emotions. Next her body will try to destroy itself by fighting anything and anyone and will not allow her to heal. She will no longer be able to shift and if her Triad parents find this out, war will start whether we like it or not. We leave in two hours. She is at the hotel in the next town and we will be leaving with her,” Meadra told us as she held onto her own shifter mate.

“NO!” My brother and I yelled and ran out of the office and we had dragons head to the next town to find her. The next town was also in our dragon den kingdom, so we quickly shifted, my twenty foot dragon was black and white, and my brother’s was gold and silver.

We headed towards the town and heard the signal that they found our mate. Quickly flying to the location, we dropped down and shifted back into our human forms as our mate stood up from the outside patio that she was eating at. Her once shining eyes, dimmed from locking her emotions out, and her hair looked dry and fraigal instead of rich and full. What have we done? I asked myself.

I walk over to her, grab her hand and pull her with me to Pyrite’s dragon. I put her on his back and quickly joined them and grabbed her before she could jump off to his other side. The sparks from the mate bond had dulled too. Her hair was up in a high ponytail. I placed my lips next to her ear as Pyrite headed back to our den.

“Sapphire, we are so sorry. We agreed that it was a mistake to let you walk out of the throne room and agreed that we will do everything in our power to make this right,” I said into her ear as Pyrite landed in front of our home.

“I will not stick around!” She said as she dismounted my brother’s back and walked towards the people she came with.

“Sapphire!” I yelled, running to catch up to her, grabbed her waist, turned her around and threw her over my shoulder.

“You Bastard! Put me the FUCK DOWN NOW!!!” She roared as her fists pounded on my back. Pyrite followed us as I ignored her and continued up towards our room.

“Sapphire,” Pyrite whispered, “We are sorry. We thought that it would be best because we are both interested in men, we didn’t want you to feel like you weren’t enough for us because you are female.”

Upon reaching our room, Pyrite walked up to the door and opened it. I quickly walked in with Sapphire, then Pyrite walked in and locked the door. I sat her on her feet and we both held onto her.

“I, Onyx Heartsfire-” I said.

“And I, Pyrite Heartsfire-” Pyrite said next.

“Accept you, Sapphire Moonstone, as our mate and Queen,” we finished together.

All we heard was her screams as her and her wolf's emotions returned with full force. She screamed and cried.

“I hate you both!” She yelled through her tears. “No one can ever love someone like me! No one knows the rejections I face every fucking day! I may be a fucking Warrior for my pack but if other people found out what I was they would reject me just like you fucking ASSHOLES DID!”

The next thing we knew, she fainted in our arms. Pyrite picked her up and took her to the bed and laid her down. She started to whimper when he moved away, so he sat down and just held her hand.

“I will send someone to collect her things and then I will be right back.” I told my brother and walked over, kissed her hair that was back to its true beauty, walked out, and quickly returned after I sent others for her things.
