Her cousin Andriana drifted to her side, wine glass in hand, eyes sparkling with concealed
disdain. She leaned close, whispering in her ear,
“You don’t belong here, Emily. Look at
them—all wolves dressed in silk. And you? You’re the lamb they’ve dressed for slaughter.”
Emily’s chest tightened, but she lifted her chin.
“I am a princess,” she whispered back, “and I will not be devoured easily”
