Waking up to my sin

Waking up to my sin

The British Museum was a fortress of history, its Great Court a vast expanse of white stone and glass that usually echoed with the whispers of tourists. Tonight, however, it was a cathedral of power. The air was thick with the scent of gardenias and expensive perfume, underpinned by the sharp, electric hum of high-end security. Men in tailored tuxedos and women draped in millions of dollars of jewels moved across the floor like predatory sharks in a lighted tank.

Winter

Winter

“Come, let me show you our archives and where we do our work. You can see if the area is up to your standards. I know we aren’t a big museum, but we do try to have the most state of the art facilities behind the scenes.” Following him, Winter slipped her hand into mine and I squeezed it. We walked together as the coordinator, who had yet to introduce himself, rattled on about the facilities greatness. Most of the second floor was focused on research and it was actually really nice. For a smaller museum, he had been right. There were far bigger museums with less of an emphasis on the research side of things. “Tristan! Scattered Pieces of The Past

Scattered Pieces of The Past

On our eighth anniversary, my boyfriend, Liam Daniels, dragged me along to plan his marriage proposal. That exact morning, my pregnancy test came back positive. Outwardly, I teased him for ruining the surprise. Privately, I called everyone I knew to brag. My parents wept over the phone, saying time flew by too fast. My best friend, Mia Kyle, promised to beat him up if he ever stepped out of line. Even my older sister, Sarah Davis, choked up, swearing she would be there no matter how busy work got. On the big night, I wore the white dress Liam bought me. When I stepped into the venue, I realized the proposal had been transformed into a full wedding reception. I watched Liam Daniels

VOWS IN THE WAR ROOM

VOWS IN THE WAR ROOM

I ended the call before that could become something harder to walk away from. Inside, the museum smelled of old varnish, paper programs, polished stone, and winter coats drying slowly. A school group clustered near a map display. Two older visitors stood in front of a landscape painting, disagreeing softly about boats. History was going about its day as if families were not ruining one another in adjacent districts. We approached the front desk. A young attendant with perfect French and tired eyes gave us a professional smile. “Bonjour. How may I help you?” “I’m looking for someone in collections,” I said. “Specifically anyone who handles donated objects or religious artifacts.”

The Billionaire Alpha's Revenge

The Billionaire Alpha's Revenge

He was sniffing the air constantly, his upper lip curling in disgust. "It smells like death here," he muttered. "Not fresh death. Stale. Rotting." "It's a museum," I said, pointing to the holographic plaques that flickered to life as we walked past. "Specifically, the Museum of Failures." We entered a long, curved hallway lined with massive cylindrical glass tanks. Most of them were dark, filled with murky fluid and vague, floating shapes. But as we approached, the proximity sensors engaged. Internal lights flared on, illuminating the contents.
